This a is American style restaurant. I got three chicken tacos for 15.75 it’s comes with 3 healthy chicken tacos and rica and beans. Tacos was okay honestly I was looking for that grill taste and I feel like they put quantity over quality because it was 15 dollars they have be three tacos. I fell like if they do 4 tacos and make the quality of the meat a bit tender ans seasoned. It would’ve been top in the city but it’s cool. Check them out

Restaurant Review: El Coyote – New Jersey (Visited in 2025)

El Coyote in New Jersey offers a unique dining experience, largely due to its unusual location. Tucked away within a gas station parking lot, right next to a minimart, the restaurant can be a bit tricky to spot from the road. Navigation directions lead you into the gas station itself, and at first glance, it’s not clear whether you’ve arrived at a standalone restaurant or simply a part of the gas station. Once parked—literally just steps away from active gas pumps—you’ll find yourself in front of this small but lively establishment.

Inside, the restaurant is quite compact, with approximately 7 to 9 tables. On busy days, the tables can be reconfigured to accommodate larger parties, which can result in limited seating for smaller groups or individuals. One unusual aspect of the layout is that the restroom is located through the kitchen, which might feel a bit odd for diners.

Despite these quirks, the food at El Coyote is satisfying. Upon arrival, guests are welcomed with free-flowing chips, which have a fresh, homemade taste. The accompanying salsa and green sauce, while flavorful and slightly spicy, are served in very small containers—an odd choice considering the generous chips.

I started my meal with the Aztec soup cup, which was a standout. The soup featured a hearty tomato-based broth with bold, fresh flavors that made it truly enjoyable. For my main course, I chose the chicken fajitas. The chicken was well-cooked, and the vegetables were nicely sautéed and caramelized, adding a pleasant depth of flavor. The tortillas were slightly overdone and a bit crisp for my taste—I prefer a softer tortilla for wrapping—but they were still serviceable. The plate also included a small scoop of guacamole, some pico de gallo, shredded lettuce, sour cream, and rice. It was a solid dish overall.

I noticed that others around me ordered the rice bowl, which appeared to be essentially a deconstructed version of the chicken fajitas, with everything served over a bed of rice—similar to a hearty salad. My child had the quesadillas, a simple yet well-executed dish featuring tortillas and melted cheese.

Overall, El Coyote delivered a pleasant dining experience with quality food in a casual setting. While the location and layout may be unconventional—and the bathroom situation through the kitchen might raise some eyebrows—the food makes it worth a visit. I’m unsure if I would return, but I appreciated the hearty flavors and casual atmosphere during this visit.

Excellent food and excellent service! We were seated immediately and our food was served hot and fresh. We recommend the steak and pork chimichangas. The Margarita Avocado Chicken is a 10/10 – add the mango salsa and it’s a party in your mouth!

Our servers were amazing! Drinks were always filled, fresh chips were on our table at all times and they were upbeat and friendly with our 12 month old (kid friendly – yay!)

Best Mexican food in the area! Family owned as well. Thank you!! We will be back.

I wanted some tacos for my birthday so we ordered delivery from here. It was our first time and we were nervous about the distance so we called ahead and they okayed it. I’m so happy we chose here because I loved my food so much. I’m coming back to eat tequila like wings for sure. That sauce is addicting. I’ve also had a lot of mole and this was one of the best. Honestly I can’t wait to come back.

Wow!! Was craving dining different and a place we haven’t been. BAM!! I find this menu and it’s long since interesting not knowing what I was getting myself into. The outlet is small and quaint. Eight tables for whenever covid is over. The crew there is very friendly and informative. They were very busy for dinner rush (6pm) small issue easily resolved. Remember to say no sour cream for the empanadas if you don’t care for it. Trust me, you’ll love it.

This place is a gem. Family owned and operated. Food was amazing and plentiful, and prices were reasonable. And byob is a great perk. Wish they would open a location near where I live. I’d be here all the time. Thanks for a great experience!

Incredible! If youre looking for a cozy hole in the wall with spectacular Mexican food, look no further! I came to visit this place as my family frequently travels over an hour to get to this restaurant, and it did not disappoint! The tortilla chips are homemade and delicious. We got an order of nachos and it was so massive that even with four people eating it it took us a while. Our food came out piping hot and you could tell a lot of care went into the food! Everyone at the table was raving about how amazing their dish was compared to everyone else’s. The waitstaff and head chef were also very polite and friendly which made for a great atmosphere!

If you have the time and the ability to eat here, you’re doing yourself a disservice by not stopping by!

Without a doubt the best Mexican food in the area. We travel quite a bit and rarely find anything equal when on the road. Always our first stop when back home. Delicious food, great service, and reasonably priced. Make sure you have a reservation especially during busy times.
