This was our first time here and all the food looked fresh and delicious with constant replenishing from the busy kitchen. We tried the beef empanadas and the alcapauria and liked them both. I would love to try any of thier other dishes, as all looked and smelled so good.
The entire place was clean, including the restrooms.
Business was constant the whole time we were there.
2 parking lots on either side for off street parking if you can find a space.

stopped by for lunch due to a recommendation from a friend. the place had just opened and already has a steady traffic – which is a great sign.

started off w some yellow rice & pernil. didn’t initially see any pernil in the front but I guessed they have it in the back only? it’s a good thing I’m familiar w the food but my companions I was with would have not known that they were available to even asked for. the rice was a bit mushy. pernil was excellent. not too salty, on the lighter side but that’s preferable for me. skin was super crispy!

paired it w some maduros (fried plantains) and tostones (fried mashed green plantains). also ordered the fried potato ball. I don’t know it’s name and kept asking the lady what it’s called but the language barrier was thick.

nevertheless, we also got 10 wings and some rotisserie/fried thighs. the wings were very tasty and flavorful. nice crunch and still juicy inside. squeezed some lime on them for an extra level of flavor. reminded me of Peruvian wings. I didn’t have any of the rotisserie/fried chicken but my buddy who had it said they were muy bien!

overall: spacious, wasn’t overly packed, and cleaned establishment. we enjoyed the food and would definitely come back if the mood calls for it.

Best Puerto Rican food in the Bridgeport area. Came here for my first time and was not disappointed. Restaurant was clean. Staff was friendly. Prices were very reasonable for the big portions you get. I ordered the plantains, beef empanada, pork / Pernell with rice and beans. Definitely will be back if in the area again.

Thus place was recommended to me as we just moved here. This was hands down the best Puerto Rican food I have ever had (coming from a Cuban!). So flavorful, the staff was friendly, the place was very clean. This will become a regular spot for us!

El Coquito – Delicious, authentic Puerto Rican food! The staff is friendly, the facility is clean, and the portions are generous for the price. A true staple in the Puerto Rican community. Whenever friends or family visit from out of town, this is always the first stop. So good that heads of state, senators, congressmen, and celebrities make it a point to stop here when visiting Bridgeport. Highly recommended!

If I could, I’d give this 3.5 stars. The Service was ok, but nothing special. The prices are not cheap, we paid $94 for 2lbs of blood sausage, 8 potatoes balls, 1 mofongo and one plate of dine in food, but it’s not as pricey as other places either.
Parking is tight as it is a busy place, though it’s high turnover. The place is pretty clean and open spaced. The food is nothing particularly special, but it is mostly made fresh for you which I really appreciated.
Overall, I would recommend it and will come back back here in the future at some point.

Next time I will stick to the Morcilla, Bolitas de papa and maybe some mofongo

We traveled all the way from New Hampshire to try El Coquito in Bridgeport, CT, and it was absolutely worth the trip. The food was incredible — full of authentic flavor, perfectly seasoned, and clearly made with care. Every dish came out fresh, hot, and expertly prepared.

We had a delicious lunch and overall the food was delicious but the plantains that I was served were definitely still green and a bit hard to eat. We recommend the pork if you are getting a bowl. It’s absolutely delicious.
