Spent the Christmas weekend in La Mesa had the best Mexican food I’ve had in my entire life and I have been raised in California never knew the difference of having Mexican food and having real Mexican food. This was real Mexican food fresh the meat. The tortillas were fresh home handmade restaurant was clean. Bathroom was immaculate friendly service ever. ended up having their food at least three times while we were there definitely a go back!

I paid extra for sour cream. Didn’t get it.
California burrito with a lot of some kind of smashed potato. Very little meat. Not tasty. I appreciated the kind service but I won’t be back.
$16 total

Went to drive thru on way home from an appointment. Had a chicken tostada. It was very good. The woman at the window was especially pleasant. This shop is not where I am routinely but I will go back when in the area.

Big portions but lacking flavour. Not what I would call a good taco. Sorry. Tropical smoothie was good. Wouldn’t be rushing back with all the other options around

The staff are such sweethearts and are super patient with me when I was struggling with my stutter. The food is delicious and I ate a burrito that was super warm and cooked perfectly.

Small store, but good food. Suggest you stop by if you are at or by Helix for a sporting event.

Can you have buyers remorse for a food experience? The answer is yes. Years ago this was a Roberto’s Taco shop, I was hoping the replacement restaurant would be somewhat similar. So not only did I have high expectations, but I was let down by the salty dry canned bean taste in my mouth. The thick flavourless flour tortilla did not partner well with the odd foamy guacamole. I did give it 2 stars because the side of fries were actually good, albeit.. Small portions though. The price for the lackluster bean and cheese burrito also added to the high expectation and cruel let down. ( About twice what I pay at Roberto’s).

It used to be one of my favorite places, but that was at least 25 years ago. It was okay, not like it used to be, but not much is anymore. I miss the older guy that used to work there, I know he went to work at the El Cajon location. Does anyone know if he’s still around? He was always so friendly.

The food here is great! I had a bean and cheese burrito, three rolled tacos and a fountain soda.

The food was okay. Got a california burrito, like others have mentioned the potatoes were boiled or maybe baked rather than French fries. I also had red hot sauce that was just okay, end up using hot sauce from home instead. Would return to try something else but will be searching elsewhere for a cali burrito on this side of town.
