Decided to try this restaurant. Has a large parking area and is close to the freeway. After entry we were seated immediately. Restaurant was at 30% capacity at the dinner hour. Chips and salsa were provided with menus and water. The chips are thin and tasty. The salsa is also good. After about 5 minutes the server came back and we placed our orders. Chips and salsa were refilled in the 10 minutes before the main courses were placed on the table. I had the carne asada plate with a carne asada taco. Presentation was good but the carne asada was overcooked past well done. The balance of the plate was unremarkable. Pricing is slightly above market. The servers were nice but did not check on is to see how the meal was. Maintenance is lacking here with chipped paint in the booth areas and very dirty HVAC. Floors need a detail cleaning.

In the spirit of being positive, this is a bit difficult. Most likely will not be returning. Reasons are as follows:
Wait staff very much..eh.. just a job, that type of attitude and very slow for a holiday weekend.
Was very nice decor for the most park. See pics. There were some unnecessary that didn’t flow with rest of decor, additions like the parrot hanging dusty from middle of dining area. Looks slightly newer on inside and great artistic paintings ans carving in the tables. Felt authentic. But the bullet looking glass chips combined with the cameras towards back of restaurant made it a little less relaxing, see pics.
Lastly prices and menu didn’t match decor. Food was less than par. See pics. That food is what you normally see in a low class low priced, fast food restaurant. Liquid beans ans liquid salsa?

El Compadre was the best possible scenario for a restaurant near a highway exit. Instead of trusting their location to bring in a constant stream of new customers, they appear to be a genuine part of the community.
Everything about our visit said classic, old-school Mexican restaurant. The basket of chips arrived perfectly warmed. My wife’s burrito was chock full of moist white meat chicken, and my carnitas (made with chicken) turned out to go perfectly with refried beans, rice, and soft, hot tortillas.
Our table had inset tiles decorated with chili peppers, and the walls and arches featured rustic, colorful tiles as well as photos of local kids sports teams (presumably sponsored by the restaurant). All in all, a bright, comfortable, welcoming space.

The loaded nachos with carne asada was the best plate of nachos I have ever eaten in my life. The food was amazing, the price was great, and the service was friendly. I can’t wait to go back!

Given there’s nothing else around here, it ain’t a bad Mexi Restaurant in the neighborhood. Although honestly tho, the quality, taste, and cost point it really is just not worth it. Friendly staff, warm welcoming, otherwise pretty low volume makes up a little bit for it but that’s about it.

The restaurant needs a lot more Oomph to really pop. Otherwise it’s just so so. Good potential tho if the owner is willing to really pump it up.

Very nice traditional Mexican if you’re coming in or out of Mount St. Helens to see the visitor center or spending some time in the park. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The food was plenty delicious and the price was reasonable. The atmosphere is classic Mexican restaurant with fun Mexican music playing throughout with a nice decor of parrots and some fun murals.

The service was pretty good at this restaurant. We stopped by as we were going to Mount Saint Helens. The order takers had a hard time understanding my order and I had to explain it a few times. But in the end, the food came out. They brought it out to us in a tray and everything was very well packed. It was also very delicious. I would highly recommend.

My family and I just moved to Castle Rock, and this is the 2nd time here in the few week span (we dont eat out much). The food is great. I feel like you can judge a Mexican place by their rice and beans, and let me tell you, both are amazing. Chips and salsa are also great. So 5/5. If you’re looking for a nice sit-down place to get sickly full with the fam, this may be your spot.
