My husband and I have been coming here for nearly 5 years and while consistency was sometimes an issue, the food was always delicious, affordable and very filling. However, we’ve noticed that ever since the owner has given off cooking and serving responsibilities to other individuals the taste and quality of our everyday favorites has steeply declined.
Last night, I got the chicken pirameos (one of my most favorite menu items) while my husband ordered a bean and veggie burrito. Right off the bat it was extremely difficult to make an order with the two newer ladies that were taking orders and cooking last night (we’d never seen them before but we don’t come here as often due to distance). I understand that this is a Mexican establishment and that they may even primarily serve their own community but it would be nice if there was someone that understood and spoke English fairly well as orders usually end up coming out wrong and making an order has become even more frustrating.
The chicken pirameos were some of the worst ones I’ve had from here yet, and that says a lot because they’re always SO GOOD. The chicken tasted quite old and was hard (like dry) in multiple areas. The onions inside needed way more cooking time as they were still on the raw end. The overall pirameo wasn’t as cheesy as it usually is and came off dry, with the chicken pieces falling off as I ate it (hardly ever happened in the past). There was also hardly any mozzarella (and chicken) inside and the pirameo bread which I always look forward to needed way more time on grill or skillet, whichever makes it come out nice and golden brown and slightly crispy. Otherwise it came out doughy and extremely mediocre. On the brighter side, my husband’s burrito wasn’t that bad but he did mention that the avocado wasn’t as good. They also didn’t placed the sautéed onions and pepper on the side like they typically do.
I hope the owner or whomever operates their Google page can review this matter and make necessary changes because this was my most favorite Mexican spot to eat at. It’s very unfortunate because I know that when the owner would make the food himself, it ALWAYS came out amazing.
Today I ventured and grabbed the Gordita, YUUUMMM. The presentation wasn’t the best; the top portion was cracked and made eating it difficult and messy. But it was delicioso. Loved it and will continue to go back. AUTHENTIC south of the border taste.
