This reminded me of home (San Antonio) so much! Small dive, amazing barbacoa and menudo, the flour tortillas as big as a steering wheel and homemade for sure

There are 6 tables that seat 4 people each, small but cozy. They move quickly and get your food to you quickly. You can stay and dine in or take to-go. Perfect for quick or laid-back breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
I judge mexican restaurants based on the tortilla quality and flavor. The tortillas are 5 out of 5 stars, absolutely delicious, authentic, not bland, not plastic, and definitely not fake from Walmart. Based on just tortillas alone, we will come back.
The burritos are a great size. My husband didn’t know if he could finish the burrito, but he didn’t want to put it down; he ate every last bite.
As for me, I was craving street tacos, and they delivered. I know it’s breakfast time, but they serve them anyway. I ordered the shredded chicken, shredded beef, and barbacoa, all delicious. I finished my tacos. I was full after one taco, but I couldn’t resist.
The complimentary salsa and chips were so good. Then the bottles, the green and red, for our plates of food, we’re also pretty good.
Great little spot for all times of the day. Can’t wait to come back to this spot.

Until today, my favorite dish here was the Enchiladas Mexicanas. The red sauce with papa’s and side of beans were excellent. This is the first time I tried the chorizo, egg, bean, and cheese burrito and it is definitely a close rival. The size was very large and the ratio of meat and potato was great. Too many places overwhelm the burritos with cheaper filling like potatoes, but this was quite balanced and flavorful. The service was also friendly as always. I definitely plan to return.

First time to try this restaurant and I definitely will be back. Food was very delicious and authentic. I highly recommend this place friendly service as well as cheap prices. Only 20 for 2 people to eat.

I’ve eaten Menudo all over the state. This is the best I have ever had. Plenty of spice, generous portions, no fat.
The daily specials are good. My favorite is Fridays Gorditas. 2 stuffed with your choice of meat, beans and rice for $6.50. Can you beat that?
Here’s a small menudo, I was eating breakfast late.

One of the best spots for cook home cooked food. The service is always outstanding! Also at Christmas they have tamales that are hands down the best i’v ever had! I don’t say that lightly either but I have to give the award to El Chaton. They’re huge and it’s mostly filling, not just a bunch of masa. I wish they had these all the time. I love that this is my neighborhood spot. If you haven’t already tried them please I beg you to give them a shot. You wont regret it.

Excellent good and service. El Chaton is a small place with an active to-go business. Pozole is served daily and it is excellent. The red salsa is hot. They offer large burritos, one is plenty for most. Their iced tea is good, ask for lemon. Your to-go order is kept warm until you arrive. They are not open on Mondays.

Finally, Wichita Falls gets a Mexican grilled chicken joint. The chicken here comes out juicy, piping hot, and in copious amounts for not a lot of money. The burritos here are huge, tasty, and come on a freshly made tortilla. I’m seriously getting hungry just thinking about it, and I literally just got done eating my food from there.
As of right now, they’ve got an insanely food special where they give you a free half chicken (4 pieces) for every 8 piece combo you buy, and you’re allowed to buy as many combos as you want. An 8 piece combo (comes with tortillas, 2 salsas, beans, rice, and pickled onions) only costs about $16. You won’t leave hungry.
The service is very friendly and helpful. Local, mom ‘n pop kind of place — the food may be Mexican, but the dream is as American as anything. Support local businesses and give El Chaton a shot!
