I’m just going to be honest, I know how to make authentic Mexican food and being from Chicago on a trip in VA I was excited to try the food here only to be let down.
The Enchilada’s tortillas were undercooked and still hard(they should be soft when served). The salsa Verde had good flavor. The taco came in a hard shell when authentic tacos come in corn or flour tortilla. The Chile relleno …. I dont even know where to begin. It leaked a white liquid ,had very little cheese in it , it was not battered and fried , and had mole sauce instead of relleno sauce. I couldn’t even eat it.
Overall, the place claims to have authentic cuisine and they fell so short from a basic recipe standard on simple dishes.
With all that being said , they are still better than Rocas down the road. At least the flavor of the platter was more authentic here at El Charro.

So grateful to take the short 3 mile drive off I81 to Radford for this restaurant. It was very clean, employees so polite and attentive. Ample seating. Food delicious. They have a salsa bar that is the best I’ve seen. I felt very welcomed and such a dear break from travel! I will go back!

Wonderful place ran by great people. They welcomed a group of Veterans and their families in for dinner and they did not disappoint. The food was hot and delicious, service-Sarah did an amazing job juggling almost 30 people, and we felt like family. If you haven’t been highly recommend- Cancun fish, quesadilla fajitas and really anything else on the menu!

If your in the Radford area and looking for a good Mexican Restaurant, El Charro is the place to go! I was in the area and stopped in for lunch. Their menu choices was plentiful and the prices were very reasonable. I was very pleased to find that they had items on their lunch menu for $4.99. That also included a salsa bar where you had your choices of different sauces to try with your food and your chips. My waiter Emmanuel did a awesome job making sure I had everything I needed to make sure I had a great experience. I would definitely check them out again next time I’m in the Radford area.

Got the beef taco salad had little bit of lettuce, half of a tomato on top. The shell was stale and missing shredded cheese, pretty unpleasant taste, and then the cheese sauce for my chips as you can tell from my video is extremely runny will not be coming back here again for the price I’ll be going to another Mexican restaurant that can make food better.

I had dinner here this week for the first time. Oh my what a find, this restaurant is a hidden gem. The food is authentic and delicious, tastes like it’s straight from Mexico. I highly recommend checking it out. I’ll be back to explore the menu.

This is a good hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant here in Radford. They have good lunch specials daily, as well as nightly specials during the week like free cheese dip on Mondays, $4 nachos on Thursday, and so on. The fresh salsa bar is pretty good too. My favorite is the Habanero Salsa Fresco. Good little Mexican dive for a bite!
