El Charro is the traditional Mexican horseman, best known for participating in the charreada, or Mexican rodeo. Renowned for expert horsemanship and skilled roping, the charro is also recognized by his iconic, finely tailored suit and wide-brimmed sombrero, symbols of Mexico’s rich heritage and tradition. When we opened our restaurant in 2001, we chose the name El Charro to honor both Mexico’s cultural legacy and Livermore’s cowboy history-a meaningful reflection of both worlds.
This colorful eatery with a rodeo theme lures locals with its enchiladas, full bar & roomy patio.

Dined in for a best friends wedding dinner and it was amazing. Great service from the waiter for such a large party. He was attentive and kind to the entire table. The combo plate with green chicken enchilada and chile relleno was spicy but not too spicy and full of flavor. The chile relleno sauce was a good combo of cheese and sauce. We will be back soon!

celebrated my son‘s wedding reception there ,the food was fabulous with a variety of delicious options, the service was wonderful. The appetizers were to die for ,the bacon wrapped shrimp were delicious. The guacamole was wonderful and all of the drinks from the bar were fabulous. Highly recommend this. It has comfortable seating and a wonderful atmosphere .thank you so much for the fabulous service with 30+ guests .everybody was pleased you guys rock.everyone raved about their tasty authentic entrees.

Interesting place, I did order a carne asada torta and guacamole for the table. The positives, I believe the salsa for the chips is very good and the best part, it is free. The torta was a good size portion, however I feel that the portion of bread compared to the meat is a bit off, I would prefer less bread and more meat, I think the jalapeño and the fresh avocado was a good complement in the torta. The 11 dollars 1/2 cup guacamole was overpriced and bland, the art of making guacamole is not only mashed avocado, needs spices and love. Don bother asking for the specials, 20 dollars tamale is not what I call special.

I have been coming to El Charro for over 15 years now and the food and the service just get better and better!! My favorite is the Enchiladas Suizas and they have by far the best Margaritas!! Food is always Hot and delicious and served with a smile!! We moved away but still not found a place like El Charro!! They are one in a million and can’t wait to go visit soon and have my favorite Dinner and Cocktail!!
