Delicious, flavorful, and maybe the best Mexican food in town — especially the salsa and frijoles. Highly recommend.
Breakfast is served at the window. The breakfast tacos are great too!
Lunch is served inside.

El Charrito has now been serving great Mexican food in Georgetown for nearly 30 years. They have a simple place along South Austin Ave with casual, indoor seating along with a few outdoor tables if weather is favourable. You can do take-away as well.
Menu features your expected range of Mexican and Tex-Mex dishes. Service is very friendly and accommodating, prices very reasonable for what is served. Met friends for dinner here recently. Everyone enjoyed the meal. Salsa and chips served with meal were great. Enchilada and fajita dishes were all very good as well. El Charrito is a simple place that gets the important things right when it comes to a casual, great Mexican dinner. Look forward to eating here again when next in G’town.

Depending on what you get, the food is okay. I see the breakfast tacos is the way to go. The regular beef enchiladas was pretty good. It’s oily, they need to drain the meat. Rice and beans are good at least. The tomatillo sauce has a kick so be prepared for that if you order the shrimp enchiladas. They use very small shrimp. We did not enjoy the dish. The crispy chicken tenders and fries is a big NO for the kids meal. Don’t know why my child would order that at a Mexican restaurant. The red salsa is REALLY good! Make sure you get chips & salsa! The queso, is a no as well.
I’m looking forward to coming back to try the breakfast tacos. But as of right now, I would not recommend this place unfortunately.

Has been me and my mom’s favourite place to get breakfast tacos for basically a decade now.
No matter if they get the order wrong or forget something, they will always pick up no matter how many times you call back.
Very friendly staff and the parking lot was a childhood whimsical palace for me.
I’ve only ever had the breakfast tacos here, so I can’t really say anything but the ingredients they use in their tacos are always fresh, and always taste AMAZING

Good salsa, had the two tacos and loved the slightly grilled flour tortillas. Charro beans were fantastic. Steak fajita meat was great; didn’t prefer the barbacoa but probably a personal preference. Bathroom had a smell that was leaking into the restaurant. Overall very authentic flavor, kind staff and definitely worth a visit.

Came here for breakfast tacos while visiting friends in Georgetown. It was a Sunday and they only have to-go food as the dining area is closed on Sunday’s. There’s a walk-up window on the side to place your order.
Ordered many different tacos to get a taste of everything. Ordered the Machacado, Chile Colorado, Chile Verde, Barbacoa, Chorizo & Potato, Bean & Cheese with Bacon, Bacon & Egg. There were a few people in line, but tacos were ready in about 15 minutes. You can sit at the tables outside, but took the tacos home to eat. All the tacos were generously stuff in the fresh tortillas. They were all good, but I specifically enjoyed the Chile Colorado and Chile Verde as they’re not served everywhere. The red salsa in the bag was very mild, not sure if they had a green salsa or anything hotter.
Overall good place to grab some breakfast tacos, but didn’t get to try anything else on the menu.

My wife and I stopped in here for lunch. The staff is friendly and helpful, service was attentive. Decor is basic and relatively low budget. I ordered the beef fajita salad and she ordered a Mexican plate with a cheese enchilada, taco, tostada, rice and beans. We also had two soft drinks. I liked the salsa with the chips. Unfortunately, the rest of the cuisine was rather bland. I prefer a bit more heat or oomph. Good value for the money but only adequate TexMex in my opinion. Total cost before tip was less than $29.

This review is about tacos from the take-out window ONLY…
I’ve been eating breakfast tacos to go here for over 20 years and they never fail to deliver!
The tacos are stuffed full…one taco can be a complete meal…although it is really hard to eat just one….hard to choose just one kind of taco too!
My all time favorite is the migas taco with the machacado a close second. The chicken fajita taco is absolutely beautifully seasoned and makes for a great lunch!
If you’ve never been there before, the ordering process may be a little confusing…there is one guy taking orders and handing out the food….he is amazing at keeping up with who orders what. There is always a crowd around the order window…just ask around “have you ordered, yet?” and you can figure out your place “in the queue”. Everyone is always very nice!
One reminder….be sure to get 1 salsa/hot sauce container per taco or you will run out…the salsa is delicious..
One recommendation to the owner- please consider offering corn tortillas with the breakfast too…instead of just flour.
Great place…been around a long time and still some of the best texmex tacos around!

This is a small family run place and the beef fajitas are charro beans are just AMAZING and the best I think I have ever had. The chips and homemade salsa are a great addition to your meal. They ask that you pay in cash to help keep the cost down which in turn helps us all. They have a very friendly staff who are great at keeping your tea glass filled and this is just a great place to stop and eat and support a local family run business. It is within a short walking distance from the Georgetown Square where there are some neat little shops and several things to do and see. We really had a fun and relaxing time in Georgetown and the San Gabriel River runs right through this little Texas town which just ads the icing on the cake. So if you are in the area make sure to stop by as this place is wonderful and you wont regret stopping and eating here and I highly RECOMMEND the beef fajitas!!

After just moving to Georgetown I needed to find a new Mexican restaurant close to home. I did a quick Google search and found El Charrito. All the great reviews swayed my decision to check it out. Boy am I glad! We dined in for a Friday lunch special of beef fajita tacos, charro beans, rice and guacamole. The meat was plentiful, consisting of large juicy tender strips of savory seasoned steak and onions tucked inside fresh, warm tortillas (flour for me, corn for my wife). The beans had almost as much bacon as beans. They were also chunky and full of delicious flavor. All in all I think I’ve found my newest favorite place to indulge in TexMex food. Lots of great food served by super friendly staff at very reasonable prices.
