Hidden gem. If you’re from the east or SE from this spot, there aren’t really better options and this is worth the drive. Try the chaparral tacos, I was confused at first but now I need these every week. They’re a blend of beef, chicken and shrimp in a red sauce that just explode with flavor. Everyone at my table said their food was salty but I didn’t get that.

I have visited this restaurant multiple times and never had an issue until this experience. I received a promotional email directly from the restaurant offering 10% off, placed my order online, and used the discount exactly as instructed. I have included a screenshot of the promotional email for clarity.

When I arrived to pick up my order, I was questioned about how I received the promotion and why I had it. The questioning continued even after I explained that it came from the restaurant’s own email system. While the employee remained polite, the situation itself was uncomfortable and unnecessary, especially considering this was a legitimate promotion generated by the business.

What made the situation more frustrating was that no manager was available to address the concern when I called back for clarification. Instead of being able to resolve the issue professionally, I was left feeling dismissed and awkward over something that should have never been directed at a customer in the first place.

If there is confusion about promotions or internal systems, that responsibility should remain with management and staff, not placed onto paying customers in a way that makes them feel questioned or singled out.

Situations like this can easily make customers feel uncomfortable or profiled, even when that may not have been the intent.

Unfortunately, this experience changed how I feel about returning. I expect better communication, accountability, and customer care from a business I’ve supported more than once.

Their burritos are excellent and huge (just as their menu claims)! I had the Burrito Loco, which had a generous portion of both grilled carne asada steak and grilled chicken, along with chorizo. It was my first and only experience where the steak was in large strips (approx. 1.25″L x 1/2″W) instead of the typical small chopped bit size. The chicken was also in large chunks. Because of this, the grilled flavor of both meats really came distinctly through, more so than when the meat pieces are chopped small.

My friends had the Burrito Texas which was loaded with grilled steak, chicken, and shrimp for $1 more.

Curiously, my Burrito Loco was served with refried beans and Spanish rice, but my friends dish was not. It wasn’t until after leaving and later looking at their online menu that I saw both meals should have included beans and rice. I’m pretty sure that, if we noticed it while there and called it to their attention, they would have obliged.

The service and atmosphere was great. I liked my Burrito Loco so much that I’d order it again, and a return visit can’t happen too soon! Though I might give their Burrito Country a try. It’s filled with yummy goodness as well! Make it a point to check out their menu online. It is signature, crafted in their own uncommon and unique style. All burritos are not created equal. El Chaparral’s stands out, and no doubt the same holds true for their other dishes.

My only disappointment (not something that would keep me away) was that they provided just one complimentary serving of chips & salsa; you have to pay for each additional serving. I am finding more Mexican restaurants doing this, which I can understand and appreciate given rising food costs, particularly if only one person is dining at the table. But when there are multiple meals being purchased at a table, I think it reasonable to allow for at least one additional serving. Surely, a customer dining alone would receive their own complimentary serving, so why not an additional one where multiple meal purchases are involved? Again, not a deal breaker for me. El Chaparral’s generous meal portions won’t leave you going home hungry and anything less than highly satisfied. While it was my first visit, this was a repeat for my friends who introduced me to El Caparral, for which I am truly grateful.

If you haven’t been to El Chaparral, it is hands down definitely worth giving it a try. Like me and my friends, you are likely to want to come back again…and again…!

Well done El Chaparral! *****+ Thank you!

Our second time visiting here. A hidden gem as they say, the appetizers, chips N salsa and our main dish were all great. A must stop if you are driving through the area. They even offer taco Tuesdays ! The hostess and waiting staff all worked together to make sure everyone dinning in enjoyed our time.

We tried the shrimp tacos, steak tacos and a chicken enchilada with rice and beans. Ok my husband SHRIMP tacos stole the show they were flavorful & a nice size ! My steak tacos although great presentation we’re lacking flavor. They were bland unfortunately. The chicken enchilada was more flavorful but I tried the green Verde sauce instead of the red sauce which I prefer more but I tasted the chicken alone and it was good. The of the show was Shrimp tacos and I don’t even like shrimp . The DRINKS are Strong! We had Pina Coladas !

Stopped on our way out of Chicago. Food was amazing! Staff were awesome, our waitress, maybe Cindy? She was on our beverages before we had to ask. I asked for recommendations, she named a few and I asked her to pick her favorite. I am glad she did she picked the Bistek Chaparral. Best Mexican meal I have had hands down. There was an awesome live band too. Thanks for a great dining experience!
