When I arrived to pick up my order, I was questioned about how I received the promotion and why I had it. The questioning continued even after I explained that it came from the restaurant’s own email system. While the employee remained polite, the situation itself was uncomfortable and unnecessary, especially considering this was a legitimate promotion generated by the business.
What made the situation more frustrating was that no manager was available to address the concern when I called back for clarification. Instead of being able to resolve the issue professionally, I was left feeling dismissed and awkward over something that should have never been directed at a customer in the first place.
If there is confusion about promotions or internal systems, that responsibility should remain with management and staff, not placed onto paying customers in a way that makes them feel questioned or singled out.
Situations like this can easily make customers feel uncomfortable or profiled, even when that may not have been the intent.
Unfortunately, this experience changed how I feel about returning. I expect better communication, accountability, and customer care from a business I’ve supported more than once.
My friends had the Burrito Texas which was loaded with grilled steak, chicken, and shrimp for $1 more.
Curiously, my Burrito Loco was served with refried beans and Spanish rice, but my friends dish was not. It wasn’t until after leaving and later looking at their online menu that I saw both meals should have included beans and rice. I’m pretty sure that, if we noticed it while there and called it to their attention, they would have obliged.
The service and atmosphere was great. I liked my Burrito Loco so much that I’d order it again, and a return visit can’t happen too soon! Though I might give their Burrito Country a try. It’s filled with yummy goodness as well! Make it a point to check out their menu online. It is signature, crafted in their own uncommon and unique style. All burritos are not created equal. El Chaparral’s stands out, and no doubt the same holds true for their other dishes.
My only disappointment (not something that would keep me away) was that they provided just one complimentary serving of chips & salsa; you have to pay for each additional serving. I am finding more Mexican restaurants doing this, which I can understand and appreciate given rising food costs, particularly if only one person is dining at the table. But when there are multiple meals being purchased at a table, I think it reasonable to allow for at least one additional serving. Surely, a customer dining alone would receive their own complimentary serving, so why not an additional one where multiple meal purchases are involved? Again, not a deal breaker for me. El Chaparral’s generous meal portions won’t leave you going home hungry and anything less than highly satisfied. While it was my first visit, this was a repeat for my friends who introduced me to El Caparral, for which I am truly grateful.
If you haven’t been to El Chaparral, it is hands down definitely worth giving it a try. Like me and my friends, you are likely to want to come back again…and again…!
Well done El Chaparral! *****+ Thank you!
