I’ve dined at this restaurant many times, but unfortunately today will be my last visit. After spending $60 on two churros, flan, and one combination plate, I was extremely disappointed with both the quality and value.
I selected a specific pickup time and even arrived 10 minutes early, yet my food was already sitting out and cold by the time I got there. When I brought it home, I realized I had paid over $10 for two churros that were cut into pieces, and another $10 for what looked like less than half a cup of flan.
The most disappointing part was that the food itself was terrible — I couldn’t even eat it. The sopas and tamale were especially bad. Overall, this was by far the worst experience I’ve had here, which is disappointing considering how many times I’ve supported this business in the past. They will never get my business nor will I ever recommend them again!

Have eaten here twice in the last month and let me tell you, mine and hubby’s meals were absolutely delicious both times. We both got burritos and, as someone who cosiders herself a snob when it comes to Hispanic food, I was not disappointed at all. We followed it up with fried ice cream, which was absolute perfection. I would (and most likely will) 100% come back.

Sat quickly, drinks quickly, friendly service. Food was just ok, basic and not much flavor IMO. The portions were great. The price was fair. We did like the two different spice levels of salsa. The mild was more tomato flavored(not great) and the spicier one was good.

I have been dining at this restaurant for over 10 years with my family as it is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. I’m sorry that I have never written a review until now but they really went above and beyond tonight! I attended a work meeting with about 20 coworkers here and we sat in a private area. The wait staff did a fabulous job at taking orders, ensuring all food and requests were correct, getting everyone’s food out at the same time, and constantly checking on us to see if we needed anything. The food, as always, was great. I’m in awe of the ability to handle such a large party so well… and with a smile on their faces the whole time. THANK YOU EL CHAPALA!

Ordered ceviche through door dash and was nothing like what the pictures showed. They use the small frozen salad shrimp. Shouldn’t be called ceviche. No lemon mostly salt . Trash

The restaurant itself is a bit run down looking. The waiters provided good service. Enjoyed the 2 salsa options with the chips (spicy & not spicy, mixed together the heat level was perfect). As for the food, it was pretty mediocre and I’m always disappointed in bland Mexican restaurants that skimp on the vegetable sides that could make food dramatically better (like pico, sliced limes, radishes and roasted jalapenos)- food trucks and grocery store eateries provide these things and the food is much lower cost so I’m baffled by restaurants that don’t. If I’m paying more, I expect more in quality and taste. I won’t be back here, there are too many better Mexican restaurants in the area for the price range.

Excellent Authentic Mexican Food served by excellent Mexican Staff!! Delightful family restaurant I have enjoyed dining at many times with my family when I come down to visit them here. I hope the locals support it plenty with take out orders through the Covid Crisis!! God bless.

I love this place. The food is so good, large portions and low prices. The salsas and guacamole are both very good. The service was quick and friendly. Been coming here with my family since I was a kid, and I was very sad to see it was slow when we came in on a Sunday afternoon. Highly recommend this place!
