It’s a snowy day over Christmas break and the town is quiet, but Chamo is glowing and inviting.
The golden ceiling reflects the warm lighting, making for a very cozy feel. The strong, bit balanced cocktails and great tequila selection made us stay. Originally we were popping in for just one drink and to kill some time, but once my wife tasted the hand crafted margarita, we stayed.
She rarely orders a second drink, especially if we are not having dinner, but because Chamo’s was so tasty, she got another!
This allowed me to pound 5 or 6 Pacificos. Once she was in the mood we topped off our afternoon with a little 1942.
Like I said, a fun selection of tequila. They even had Clase Azul, which I chug like a heathen when the wifey isn’t looking.
Oh. They have a nice little bathroom. Super clean and a great mural. I mean, bathrooms are important. This one is right off the bar area, but it still feels kinda secluded and relaxing.
Give Chamo a shot, we’ll be back again. We didn’t get a chance to eat, and we really want to know what the kitchen can do, especially after having a great experience at the bar.
A special thank you to Virginia for making our afternoon enjoyable, you are a great hostess.
The alcohol menu is diverse and genuinely the cocktails are good, but the food really can’t be underestimated. Everything is fresh, crispy, and delicious.
Particularly recommend the arepas, yuca, plantains in any form, and empanadas. Beans were sorta just ok, but they were really just a side thing.
Because it was a Friday night it was very loud and crowded, but that’s too be expected. Still 100% worth it. Servers were polite and quick with the bill when we were done.
The food was stand out. The mendocas were the perfect blend of savory and sweet with the perfect fried crunch. Ive never had yucca fries stay so crunchy. The empanadas were great too. I would recommend this place to anyone and definetly come back the next time im in town. When we went in Monday afternoon it was so quiet with none of college students from Friday. So pick your time if you want to avoid that crowd or if you want more of the party vibe.
1.try different menu items
2.try them out over the span of a month
The food here is deliciously flavorful! ANYTHING, and i mean ANY THING, you order from the menu will be guaranteed deliciousness!! This menu caters to everyone ranging from picky eaters to vegans to protein lovers and anything in between.
Onto the drinks… WHAT A TREAT!! if you’re looking for a spot with boozy cocktails look no further— the bartenders here understand that fine line between being okay to drive and having to call an uber. Something that I truly appreciated was witnessing the bartenders calling ubers for inebriated clients.
Fun fact! some of the drinks are named after regions in Venezuela and their flavors are based off the main crops grown in those regions.. how freaking thoughtful is that!?
Lastly, service at El Chamo is usually exceptional. I’ve never had an issue dining here, but the restaurant can get super busy at any given moment and make it hard for staff to get to clients on a timely manner. I genuinely didn’t care all that much about that because the food and drinks are worth waiting a lifetime every time!
