Stopped by for lunch and had the speedy Gonzales with a beef quesadilla. The server was very friendly and great to deal with. Restaurant is conveniently located, clean and easy to access.
Food in general was pretty good. Then two things that stuck out to me is 1. Their salsa has a very tomato almost ketchup like taste to it. I prefer more of a robust salsa so I’m not sure if they tone it down because there’s so many American customers but one of my least favorite restaurant salsas I’ve had. Could have just been the one I had but I’ve eaten here a couple times before and it was the same.
The other is the quesadilla didn’t really have much cheese. It was pretty much the tortilla and shredded beef. The taste was good but I like when the quesadilla is stuff with the cheese as well.
This is a place I will be back too for just the service alone but the food in general is good especially if you want to have Mexican close to the ocean

The restaurant itself is beautiful — it has a multi-level setup, warm decor, and a cozy atmosphere. The lighting is very dim though, to the point where we could barely see the menu.
I liked that they brought the salsa out with individual dipping bowls and a little glass pitcher so everyone could pour their own — that was a nice touch. But the salsa itself tasted mostly like pure tomato with a little spicy kick and didn’t have much flavor beyond that.
My mom ordered the menudo, and it was a big miss. It came with chopped jalapeños, cilantro, RED onions, and lime — but no hominy. The tripe was extremely soft and squishy instead of firm, which made the texture unpleasant. The flavor overall just didn’t hit the mark. They also only offered a choice of flour or corn tortillas on the side instead of tortillas or bread like I’m used to.
I ordered the Build-Your-Own Combo with two enchiladas, a beef flauta, beans, and rice. The beans didn’t have a lot of flavor, the rice was okay (probably the best part of my plate), and the flauta was dry and flavorless. The enchiladas were honestly shocking — I’m almost certain they were filled with Velveeta cheese. The taste was strange and artificial, nothing like traditional Mexican enchiladas.
The one thing that was good was the shrimp — big, juicy, and flavorful. My tablemate said his steak was good too. The drinks were decent, and the local IPA came in a huge frosty mug, which was nice.
We spent about $150 for four people including tip, which felt pretty steep for the quality of the food. The staff was friendly and attentive, but overall, the food was just really disappointing.

I got The Quesabirria Tacos. They came out hot and amazing! They taste great and were perfect for dinner. I will be back to get them again. Definitely recommend. Atmosphere was great and the food service was very quick.

My wife and I are on a vacation here in Carolina Beach and after driving four hours we just wanted a quick meal that was close to our rental. We decided on Mexican food and El Cazador was close. The staff was friendly and attentive no problem there. They provided the usual chips and salsa when seated. My wife ordered the Carnitas meal and pico de gallo and I had the carnitas tacos , guacamole dip, and a beer. The food arrived hot within 10 minutes. The food was just okay I thought the carnitas lacked the depth of flavor that one would expect from a traditional Mexican dish. I would give them another shot I just wouldn’t order the same meal.

We go here at least once a week. One of the best restaurants on the island and so much seating. We were here for NYE 2025 and even though they were busy, we were seated quickly and service was a 10/10. Our server was amazing!! He was so quick and attentive and brought me things I needed before I even asked like he was reading my mind. We had gone to another restaurant in the area first that night and were seated then ignored so after 30 mins we left and went to Cazador. They totally pivoted our night and we are super grateful.

My family and I were on vacation. The kids were craving Mexican so we decided to try this place. It’s an absolute Taurus trap. It’s the most basic Mexican you can get. Barely got any refills of my water. Waitress seemed uninterested in us being there. Guacamole was good the rest the food was just OK. Should’ve seen the red flag coming when the salsa tasted slightly like pizza sauce. I could see this being a good place in the summer in enjoying the outdoor dining. Unfortunately, we came in the off-season and I just seemed like they didn’t care.

Food terrible. The salsa tasted like it was tomato sauce so we ordered cheese dip and it was like water. Very disappointing. Will not be back.

Nice restaurant! Promptly seated and server arrived shortly after. From beginning to end of our visit, our service couldn’t have been better. Food (fajitas texanas – for two) came out hot and perfectly prepared, and was delicious! Server was very attentive. Nice atmosphere and wasnt noisy. Highly recommend if you’re in the area vacationing.
