We needed a family taco night for 7 and thanks to El Catrin, our dinner was a big success! Thank you to Jared and the chefs that prepped everything for a great taco Tuesday feast! The birra tacos where so delicious along with the chicken and beef tacos. The beef quesadilla was enough for 3 and was their favorite! Everyone enjoyed the homemade warm churros which we served with vanilla ice cream and fresh berries and cream on top! El Catrin is our new favorite Mexican restaurant in West Seattle and we are looking forward to try much more on the menu!

The service is wonderful. The atmosphere is cozy. The food is delicious. The only complaint I have is that there was a lot of grizzle in the steak. The sauces are really tasty. I love that there is outdoor seating as well.

Two entrees made dinner and lunch for two, that means — generous portions! Every bite was delicious. The gentlemen who came out to help me was cordial. We had a little visit.

My wife and I really like the chicken enchiladas with black beans and rice (4 enchiladas, great for sharing) and the burrito mojado with carne asada.

My order placed online just before 5:00 on a Thursday was ready when I arrived about fifteen minutes later. “Wow, that’s a heavy bag of food!” was my impression.

Parking curbside right across the street was easy. It seems there is off street parking in front. Look for the food trucks next door.

My wife said, “let’s try dining in.” It looks inviting, clean. Also I noticed “Taco Tuesdays” on the menu, with a great price and a great selection. That will be next for us.

Such a great find! The food was exquisite! All the sauces, from the hot sauces to the moles, were so delicious and complex. The various dishes were creative and well-thought-out. The staff was passionate about their food and hospitality which was fun and the atmosphere was low key but trendy. All in all, well-thought-out Mexican restaurant that I look forward to coming back to.

Tacos are a bit pricey but worth it. They don’t skimp on the meat and the flavors are fantastic. Get the tripas, lengua, beef cheeks in that order. The ancho chili salsa slaps. They also have a rotation of 3 different drinks they make, definitely refreshing and go well with tacos. The staff is friendly and the place is new, so it’s clean and welcoming. I work nearby and despite the saturation of Mexican food in this area, I will definitely be back at El Catrin.

While we’re longtime fans of the Ramos family’s original Azteca store in Burien, our first trip to El Catrin knocked them out of first place. Everything from the guac to the salsa to the veggies to the steak fajitas was absolutely FRESH and delicious. No reheated food, no post-meal carbo coma — just tons of fresh flavors.

The service was also incredibly friendly. We’ve been back twice more in the last three weeks — and the experience and the comida muy deliciosa was consistently amazing.

Next visit: brunch!

I came in with my boyfriend for a late dinner and it was pretty quiet.
You can order at the counter or at a kiosk.
There were a couple words in Spanish we didn’t know on the kiosk so we opted to go to the counter and ask.
Whoever helped us was very friendly.
My guess is he’s the owner/manager/head chef.
He answered our questions and talked very passionately about the menu.
We went with some of his recommendations and oh my goodness, was it some good food.
I had a carnitas torta and it was messy but so so good.
My boyfriend had a burrito so big it could easily be two meals, and it was filled with a meat combination of steak and bacon.
The manager offered us aqua frescas on the house and they were also very delicious.
10/10 will come back, the food was amazing.
