The food here is decent Mexican, good but not great. They have not changed the menu for years or upgraded the interior ever. The atmosphere is poor due to old furnishings and sections of the restaurant where it is in disarray. It is inexpensive, and the free chips are good. Good place for a quick lunch.

I give this place a 4.5. A great place for Mexican food. Service is good and quick. The food is pretty inexpensive compared to other places but still strong in flavor. Had the chicken tacos, chicken burritos, Jose’s special. Chicken is well seasoned and juicy. The José special does not hold back on the lobster which is great. Churros are pretty small but tasty. The jalapeño poppers are overly breaded. Be cautious, the salsa for the chips is pretty spicy.

Overall, not well pleased. Long wait time after ordering my dinner. Table dirty, not clean. Basket holding nacho chips dirty. Waited almost an hour for my food to come. Ate some nacho chips and salsa.

The great restaurant with a traditional Mexican Cafe feel. Their food is the usual Mexican Fair but is awesome prepared well and never disappoints. They also have drink specials the beer is cold. Great place to get a good meal and a drink.

We literally drove 2000 miles back home to Erie and the very first place we went was here. Yeah, it’s that good. We moved to a US/Mexico boarder town and can not find Mexican food better than El Canelo’s anywhere!

Used to love this place until they raised prices and cut portions. This place is now a joke. Go somewhere else. These fajitas dinners are enough for 1 large or maybe 2 tiny fajitas. Used to be 3 large fajitas. Has gone downhill big time. Are these two paltry servings in the pictures worth $35? I think not.

I took my elderly parents for a spur-of-the-moment, late lunch. We all love Mexican food and we were not disappointed. I told our polite and efficient server, that we had a short time frame and our food came out pronto. What the kitchen produced was delicious and filling. We all ordered a different lunch special, piled high with fresh, tasty ingredients. The seasonings were mild, allowing each diner to spice things up more, if so desired. The prices were excellent, the service was top-notch and the food and atmosphere were perfect. I’ll be back!

Worst food and atmosphere imaginable. Their kid was our server and he did great. We got dirty dishes and silverware came after our food also dirty.
