The food was delicious!! The service was wonderful, friendly & attentive. One of the best Mexican food places in the area. Our family had, Carnitas plate, green enchiladas, red enchiladas & a chicken quesadilla. Every meal was so tasty I would recommend it all. The only thing I would say, is since everything is cooked fresh they do take a little long to bring out the food. But the wait was worth it, specially since the chips & salsa were good too

First time coming to El Canario. Google reviews was accurate.
Authentic Mexican food. We each had the two taco plate meal. Both plates were very good.
They also brought us three hot sauces for a variety. My wife like the hot one of course. I likes the green salsa.
The atmosphere seemed authentic & inviting. Mexican music was playing, not too loud.
Service was good too.

Michelle of Nana’s Tamales recommended this place to us & the food is absolutely exceptional! Every dish is fresh perfection even down to the tortilla chips! The service was friendly & the waitress recommended all of their best dishes. The carnitas are definitely their specialty but the rice & beans & pickled onions were also spot on! The dining room is nice & roomy & the prices are very reasonable. You’re gonna love this place! It’s a hidden gem.

We got the little piggy meal for 4 adults. Also got the 3 potato tacos and a kid’s bean and cheese burrito. The carnitas came with a side of beans, rice, cole slaw, pickled onions w/habanero, lime, tortillas, and two different salsas. The corn tortillas are handmade and taste so good. I tried my kid’s burrito and the flour tortilla tasted homemade as well. Make sure to get the carnitas mixed (cueritos and all). The beans and rice were soooo good, and the carnitas were some of the best I’ve had. The potato tacos were very good as well and nicely sized. We found this spot on the way down from Julian. I would make the drive from Orange county to this place for the carnitas alone. You have to try this place.

I LOVE this place. We usually go either sat or sun around 12 when we go. We get their big piggy or little piggy. They have the only coleslaw I will ever eat! Great portions feeds 7 of us and we have stuff to take home. Even my littles love it (7 and 3). Sometimes they are crowded though or take on catering orders but they will let you know before they seat you if you’ll be waiting or of they are sold out of anything due to a catering order. They are so good though.

I can’t believe it took us this long to try this place. The location is a bit tucked away but the atmosphere inside was great. Very clean and well decorated, good music. The service was excellent and the food was authentic. The quesabirria was phenomenal, asada taco was great, Canario plate left completely empty. Also they have weekend specials which is nice. We highly recommended!

We wanted to take my family from out of the country to a Mexican restaurant for authentic Mexican food. The food was very good. The service was good. The only reason I’m knocked them down the star is because we found it *extremely* expensive. About $100 for four people! And that was only one soda drink, no others.

The food was delicious. Everything tasted like it was made with love as well as authentic. Some of the best chips and salsa we’ve had in a while. All the corn and flour products are homemade as well!

We just moved into our new home in the area a few months ago and we have been trying different local food. We really wanted to like this place, especially since I’m all about supporting raza. However, the service was not the greatest, and the food quality needs some work. Hoping it gets better, as we might return some day.
