From the moment I walked into El Camino, I felt like I had discovered a real gem in Brownsville. The speakeasy-style vibe is on point — subtle, stylish, and perfectly laid-back — making it ideal for a night out with friends or a low-key date.
What stood out:
• The bartenders were warm, attentive, and willing to tailor the experience — one of them helped with a drink request when our group wanted something slightly different. Service was great — bartender was personable, welcoming and accommodating!
• The food offerings (especially the charcuterie, chips and steak) were amazing.
Overall impression:
El Camino is a must-go in Brownsville if you want a more refined, off-the-radar bar experience. Great service, strong food & drink, and a comfortable, fun atmosphere. I’ll absolutely be back. Definitely a date night type place.

The food and presentation are great but you would think the chicharrones would come with tortillas, like how else are you supposed to eat them? Tell people they’re $5 (for 4 small handmade tortillas)? The place was also freezing, when I mentioned it the bartender said it wasn’t, with that said I didn’t even bother ordering another drink.

First visit. Now that I know what to expect, I can’t wait to go back! Service was great — bartender was personable, welcoming and accommodating! I liked the beer I had. One person in our group wanted a sweet wine and didn’t have any luck, but the bartender did all he could. They were out of a few things but he said it had been really busy the day before. Definitely seems like a cool place to go hang with friends for a drink and quality charcuterie!
