Kitschy-cool spot with red-velvet booths serving Southern California-Mexican fare & Latin cocktails.

I was disappointed. Food had minimal flavor, was not authentic, and was not cooked well. Some ingredients seemed low quality, especially for the price. I was the only customer in the restaurant for the first 45 minutes and the server looked at me like she was annoyed a customer walked in when I arrived. She never greeted me, never smiled, was barely communicative, and checked on me once the entire time. A worker was loading some boxes from the front entrance to the back and forgot to close the door in 30 degree weather for more than five minutes. I asked the sever if I could close the door and she said she wasn’t sure, then just walked away. It was freezing. I sadly won’t be coming back and won’t recommend this place to others.

Neighbor spot my family has patronized for a long time. Unfortunately, the food quality and the service have declined.
It’s a tough time across the food service industry for smaller spots… however it could be utilized to really make each experience better, memorable and that’s not what’s happening. More socializing and lazy service (from staff) than attentiveness and personalization (to customers).
Wrong food and forgotten items, long wait (despite low table numbers), and the final straw fruit flies in a couple of drinks. It’ll be a long time (if ever) we return. After some much needed changes.

Took some very picky eaters from out of town to this joint, and they seem to have enjoyed it. So that’s a win! Just FYI, the side order comes in massive portions, you do not need to order an extra rice and/or beans per person, probably one for 2-3 people.

We absolutely love this gem of a restaurant. The service is always friendly, the food is consistently tasty, and the price point is just right. Their taco Tuesday specials are awesome ($8 margs + $1 off tacos) and their patio in the spring/summer is the best!

Had a lovely brunch at el Camino- I got the shrimp omelette and it was DELICIOUS! There was lots of big shrimp in the omelette. We sat outside on the patio and it was very pleasant.

El Camino is a fantastic neighborhood gem, boasting some of the finest steak tacos I’ve ever tasted in the District. But it’s not just the tacos that shine here; their chicken mole is a standout, offering a generous portion bursting with the rich, complex flavors of mole sauce. The inviting “L” shaped bar is always bustling with a few locals, giving it a friendly and approachable vibe. The bartenders are attentive and skilled, ensuring that patrons are well taken care of, and the drinks are not only delicious but also reasonably priced.
Additionally, I couldn’t help but notice their camino steak dish, which had my mouth watering just looking at it. I can’t wait to try it on my next visit! I highly recommend this establishment and look forward to making it a regular hangout.

I passed this place all the time and finally had the opportunity to eat here, we came for brunch. It’s very small and displays local artists work and sells it which was cool. The food was not bad, we ordered the salsa & chips and guac for appetizers, they were good but we paid $10 for a small amount of guac. Then we ordered the Mexican breakfast torta which was good, the omelets which was also good, the chocolate chip cornmeal pancakes I didn’t like them at all but the others did and, the French toast because it had orange juice marinated bananas, but they didn’t come with it and when we asked the server they didn’t know that it came with them and then came back to tell us they ran out. It bothered us a lot that we had to inquire and that they didn’t notify us and honestly the French toast looked pretty pathetic and the cherries they were talking about were marichino not real cherries lol. Overall it was good but not great.

Definitely a good place to go to if you pass in the neighborhood and are looking for affordable Mexican food. The service is good and the food is worth the money. I just wish they would add more rice in the initial servings. However, the meat was great and cooked exactly as I asked.

Our first stop while visiting DC! The skirt steak on fajita dish were soooo juicy and tender, and my shredded steak enchiladas has a delicious and unique flavor. Would recommend!

The tacos were pretty good for the DC area. Service was great. Very relaxed staff, not too busy. Didn’t feel rushed or ignored. I wish the tacos didn’t fall apart so quickly, but the flavor was still good.
