Great staff. They make their tortillas from scratch, and it’s great. The cactus is delicious. There’s a dedicated menu section for vegan food. Large portions.

A true flavor bomb of a restaurant. I have eaten in many Mexican restaurants before. El Cactus truly stands out. The seafood soup was mind blowing. Spicy, flavor filled, and loaded with sea food. It’s enough to feed two people. The Birria tacos were just as good and the consome was on point. The house made tortillas are fresh and fluffy.

The young man who took care of my family and me was extremely nice and helpful.
The food was delicious and tasted very fresh
The place may be small but its as good as it gets when it comes to real home made mexican food.

If you want authentic Mexican food come here! Freshly prepared, fast service that is both authentic and delicious! This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant on Staten Island! Place is clean as a whistle and festively decorated. They give you a lot of food and the prices are a great value for the quality and quantity. We had huaraches (tortilla was easy to cut and tasty). Huevos rancheros and eggs and ham. Everyone enjoyed their meal!

I can’t even pick out one thing to say it tastes delicious because everything does.
I got the Huarache carnitas.

If you’re craving tacos, this charming little taco joint is an absolute gem! The moment I walked in, I was welcomed by a cozy and inviting atmosphere, decorated with vibrant colors that reflect the lively culture. The tacos are incredible—each bite is packed with fresh ingredients and bold flavors that transport you straight to Mexico. I tried the birria tacos and chicken tacos, both of which were tender, perfectly seasoned, and topped with just the right amount of salsa. The staff is wonderfully friendly and hospitable; our server, Angel, made us feel at home, fostering a sense of family and pride in the food they serve. Plus, the prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes! Don’t forget to sample their homemade salsa, aguas frescas, and the delightful flan for dessert. If you’re looking for hearty, soul-satisfying tacos, this is definitely the place to be, and I can’t wait to return for more! (Just a heads up, it’s street parking only.)

***BEST AUTHENTIC MEXICAN RESTAURANT STATEN ISLAND*** My Mexican fiancé moved from California here & after many trials we finally found the best! Reasons why:
1. IMMEDIATELY brought chips & salsa to the table (delicious)
2. You could hear the fajitas before they arrived from the sizzling!!
3. The tortillas were homemade!!

He described the atmosphere as traditional, like being in his abuelita’s home 🙂 We will definitely be coming back!

This place is small but has soul. They were recording a live podcast and then had a live band called it Bateon Del Norte…it was highly entertaining, and the food was amazing. horchata was on point, and Mole enchiladas were perfection. Guacamole was alsoso good. Don’t hesitate to have dinner here as they are super attentive and friendly.
