We stopped in here for a late lunch but still early enough to order from the lunch menu. We were seated and served quickly. The food was delicious and the atmosphere is dark (in a good way), colorful, and fun! Very Day of the Dead! The enchilada sauce was almost sweet, which sounds strange, but it was delicious! We were glad we stopped in! The restroom appears to be shared with a neighboring restaurant so it was a little tricky to find, but it was clean. After lunch we explored the Butler street area, which was fun. A great location!

Best value in Saugatuck. Food is on par with many other Mexican restaurants throughout Michigan and further. And the prices are as well. Standard menu very good but not spectacular. I had the shrimp fajitas and would have actually preferred to have the shrimp and vegetables charred more. But I was very hungry and forgot to take a picture before I started eating. Again this would normally merit a 4 star rating, but it seems to be the only restaurant that the prices aren’t jacked up for the short travel season that most Saugatuck establishments go by.

We docked our boat at the public access a block from this restaurant in lovely Saugatuck, Michigan. I have been here before and recalled enjoying it the first time. Dinner tonight was absolutely delicious. My three companions and I each loved our different dishes. Fresh and flavorful. This is such a cute place in a cute town with lovely outdoor dining space. My only thought is that the patio dining area needs sweeping- but not a huge deal. It won’t stop me from coming back! Update! July 2024 – last summer, I thought the food was the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. Now it’s just good – but the service improved so overall they’re still at the same score!

A great find in downtown for authentic Mexican food! We visited (unknowingly) on the night of the Venetian festival concert across the street, and the service was incredible even during an extremely busy event. The waiter made recommendations for our order that were extremely delicious.

Would visit again in a heartbeat!

We stopped here after an afternoon of roaming around saugatuck. The food was mediocre but we were starving and ate it! It’s what you expect from a Mexican place in a small tourist city. It came out hot and looked good. I had the chimichangas. But made the mistake of getting the ground beef. It was okay. My husband had the Verda enchiladas. He really liked them. The woman that helped serve us was exceptional. She was great and attentive. Maybe the chimichanga was an exception to their food. Again my husband loved his.

Certainly a great restaurant. El Burrito is a fantastic place to visit. The food is exemplary, and the customer service is just as excellent, if not more. The atmosphere is authentic and very joyful.

This is a Mexican restaurant. The food is what you would expect, the atmosphere is is what you would expect, the spice level is what you would expect. This isn’t a bad thing, but it doesn’t go way outside the box or do anything to surprise. It is a fine Mexican restaurant that I think every midwestern town has.

The service was excellent and I enjoyed the food very much. Mexican restaurants are my favorite and they did not disappoint! The portions were large enough for me to make two meals out of one order.

Alot of food for what you pay, and extremely fast for fresh made. Staff is all really friendly and the atmosphere is amazing.

We had Enchalata Verde 12.99 and Fajitas Texas Style 18.99, coke products served here.

Horrible!

Firstly, we had chips with salsa and guacamole while we waited for our take-out order. The salsa and guacamole were both very bland. I requested ice water with our chips (seems like the server would think about asking us if we wanted drinks) and this seemed to put our server out. The water never came and I had to ask another person for something to drink as we ate the bland chips and salsa.

We left and brought our take-out home…

I ordered the chicken burrito, the chicken was watery and bland. I had asked for beans in the burrito and these were scarce. The rice was again bland.

My wife had the veggie burrito and it was beyond horrible. The flavor was again very bland and the burrito was watery and filled with what appeared to be frozen veggies including carrots, cauliflower, broccoli,, and large chunks of onions. There was nearly no protein, we had a hard time finding beans…barely a smear of refried beans(?). She requested cheese on the burrito and it was covered with a watery bland nacho cheese sauce.

We cannot believe this restaurant had 4+ stars. We are visiting from California and this place would not last a month in a town that has decent Mexican eats. Yuck! What a waste of money and calories.
