Super tasty food! The only reason it lost a star is because of the packaged flour tortillas. However, the corn tortillas are excellent and homemade!! Best homemade corn tortillas I’ve ever had! I even asked for butter to go with them. My husband had the supreme omelette and that was very good as well. Definitely coming back and bringing my friends from Laredo.
Last picture shows the corn tortilla I had with butter… Yum!

Fabulous food and people!
UPDATE this place is still amazing!
Awesome little place! Family owned and operated. Small dinning area, about nine or ten tables. So get here early… I had the Supreme omlette, simply amazing with lots of flavors! My wife had the Greene chilaquiles… The corn chips used were crispy and very flavorful! Service was great, never had to ask for coffee. Overall I will definitely be back and recommend El Bueno Mexican Cafe for all to try!

We have found a new breakfast place for sure! The server explained and recommended items on the menu. Everything was scrumptious! We will be back. The chilaquiles… well everything we had was really good. If you are looking for a hidden gem this is it!

This place is a diamond in the rough! It’s in a really random and unassuming shopping center. The food is fantastic. I want to eat chilaquiles here every day. I had them dine in and takeout twice in two days over a weekend visiting family in San Antonio. The barbacoa wasn’t greasy, it was moist and flavorful.

We’ve driven by this place a few times and finally stopped in for dinner today. Our server, Alfredo, was so friendly and gave us very good recommendations. The food was all really good – my husband got the guisada plate and I got flautas. I also like that they fry their own chips and offer a few different homemade salsas.

Do yourself a favor and give them a visit, they have the best chilaquiles in the city.

In my opinion, what separates El Buen Gusto from every other Jalisco or breakfast spot is the quality. They very clearly make everything from scratch and it shows in the flavor. I would compare their food more to visiting someone’s home who is a really good chef, compared to visiting a breakfast spot. It is family run, with the parents working the back and their adult children running the front, and the service is always friendly and fast.

If you find yourself in the area during their hours and want to have an amazing meal, I highly recommend you stop by.

Edit: they changed ownership and are not as good as they were. The family that owned it sold it. Now they use store bought beans.

Chorizo and Egg taco was Exceptional! I’ll definitely order two next time.
The crispy potatoes were perfect. The red homemade salsa/hot sauce is my favorite at the moment. Small family friendly restaurant. Check it out.

Seriously since when do pics and reviews go beyond expectations! Well this is the place. Never mind the friendly excellent service. Your taste buds will match up with these amazing dishes. I need to go again and try lunch. We truly enjoyed our Breakfast and warm hospitality. Thank you Buen Gusto!

Usually small places like this are a hidden treasure but I was very disappointed. The pastor tacos tasted like anything but al pastor. La carne asada was dry and they used generic Walmart cheese for their tortas and their sauce is not spicy at all. If you are looking for authentic Mexican flavor you won’t find it here. I feel bad because the waitress was so nice to us but the food was not good.
