Came to the fairly newly reopened El Bueno Gusto for dinner and happy that we did. As it was a nice night, we chose to sit in quaint patio area. We were brought out tasty chips and salsa and the attentive waitress took our drink order. Just fyi, beer and wine is only served inside.
We ordered the fish tacos and shrimp fajitas. Boy, they were extremely tasty, really fresh flavors. The beans and rice were good.
Prices were reasonable as well!
We will be back to try the asada and other meat dishes.
Looks like they are open for breakfast too.

My local fave place to eat! El Buen Gusto is so good they serve authentic Mexican food with the best service! The new interior is so cute and perfect for date nights. I got the beef flautas and they were delicious. A friend got the torta and fajitas and they were so so good! If you’re in Whittier you need to stop by! I am excited to come back to try their breakfast & many coffee options (mochas, cappuccinos, frappes). Thanks El Buen Gusto for being a gem in Whittier!⭐️⭐️

I visited the City of Whittier, CA over the weekend and went to El Buen Gusto Mexican Restaurant on the corner of Norwalk and Beverly Blvd. I was expecting to see the old owners who I knew over the many year of going there. I discovered that it is now under new ownership. I was pleasantly surprised. Katie, the new owner, welcomed me as I approached the front entrance with a big hello and a smile.
I am somewhat a aficionado of Chili Rellenos. I have eaten many hundreds of them over the years. I must say, the Chili Rellenos I ordered here are “BEST” I mean the very “BEST” I have ever eaten. The dinner $16.00 plate came with velvety refried beans, creamy cilantro rice and of course tortillas. The in house home made chips were accompanied with a house “heated” brown salsa of which I have never had but found to be excitingly tasty. With a soft drink and tax I left paying about $20.00.
I said to the owner as I left, I wish she could shipped food to Las Vegas where I currently live. I visit Whittier approximately 2 times a year and El Buen Gusto will always be on the list of dinning pleasures. If you ever have the chance….go there….I think you will enjoy your meal.

Spotted the restaurant passing by, I was just hungry . And found a real home-feeling food. As soon I tasted the salsa, I knew the food would have a real homemade flavor. Café de Olla . Has a good vibe in the place ✨️ $$ The price is reasonable. Been to other places, not good food too expensive.

Came in to have lunch today so happy I did excellent Service delicious salsa made from scratch. Also tortilla chips served fresh I ordered the burrito. It was delicious. Amazing Mui Bonita.

Under new ownership as of August 2024 is what I was told. One of the owner Veronica was very friendly with full information regarding restaurant menu. We did take out of empanada(ground beef/ckn), just as good as original from previous owner. Pork tamales had big chunks of pork and was tasty… masa abit on the soft fluffy kind(I prefer dense masa). Chicken chimichanga was also very good. We will definitely be going back, since Albondigas was not available when we went (my fav mex soup). Cant wait!

I ordered empanadas, and I was expecting a punch flavor on it. But, real sweet texture on the bread. Not bad, but not good for those empanadas. I would go back to try other plates.

Yummy! We stopped to try their empanadas and tried 3 different ones: chicken, spinach, and ham & cheese. The 3 were served with pico de gallo and guacamole….they all were delicious with very beautiful hand made crusts. We really enjoyed them and would definitely come back. ☺️
