I enjoy burrito bowls and usually stick with Chipotle or Qdoba. I tried this spot for something different. It tasted good, but paying $29 without guac and with minimal cheese didn’t feel worth it to me. Other places offer more topping options for a lower price.

Stopped in on a recommendation and I was actually pleasantly surprised.
The restaurant is big, sectioned off to a degree, slightly different themes in each section but all the typical Mexican themed stuff you get wherever you go. Initially, that put me off because the decor (to me) is cheesy because it is so cliche. However, despite being packed, we were seated right away. Our waitress was very friendly, always smiling no matter what table she was at and knowledgeable. Given how crowded it was I thought the food was going to take a while but it actually came out in a very timely manner.
To my great surprise, because I usually don’t have the same taste in what I prefer for Mexican food as my partner, the food was actually pretty tasty. The chicken was easily the winner; excellent flavor and so soft. The favorite between us though was their verde sauce. SO YUMMY!
My only complaint is their tequila selection. I was hoping for a better selection of quality tequila instead of what most people think is good tequila. Even their ‘good’ tequila, despite the price, has more additives than necessary. (Yeah, I’m a tequila snob) And the parking stinks because it’s in the same lot as a strip mall and it gets crowded. Still a decent spot to eat though.

Hey, it’s Wisconsin, I know … As a SoCal guy (now, originally WI born) I can still appreciate the love and proud Mexican heritage in this place. It’s absolutely huge, gorgeous, filled with fun stuff to look at, wonderful smells, sounds, and vibrant atmosphere. The staff is off the charts awesome. And… Their super duper margarita is one of the best I’ve ever had (which is saying a lot). Will be back!

We met a few friends here yesterday. Our server was great. She brought us one bowl of chips for every two people and one bowl of salsa for every person. We thought the salsa was great. It was very fresh tasting and had chunks of real tomato in it. I love that she brought one bowl for each of us so we could double dip, haha. I had the lunch special chimichanga with steak. It was pretty good. Very meaty and cheesy as you can see in the picture. The beans were okay and the rice was pretty bland. I love spanish rice but this did seem like it came out of a box lol. No worries. I just mixed the rice and beans together and ate them that way. Would eat here again but probably only during lunch as the prices were much better for lunch specials.

I didn’t want to leave a bad review but two times in a row and some meh moments before that, I was done. This place has been going downhill for years now. Ever since the tax scheme about a decade ago. It’s surviving off the good reputation it had built. What’s so bad about it now? Well, the food the last two times I’ve been there was microwaved. Each time we’ve received our food in under five minutes. You can tell microwaved food by hard edges and uneven temperature. A lot of nickel and dime things as well. Chips aren’t as good as they used to be. The sour cream container is half the size it used to be but they didn’t lower the price to reflect that. In fact, all the prices keep going up. The quality isn’t there to reflect this. I even had a staple in my rice this last time. I’m sure it was just missed as they were pouring it from the box but all these things add up to a restaurant not being run well and cutting corners. You’ve got to wonder what else they’re doing that you can’t see to cut cost. It’s even starting to look run down, in my opinion.

I went to el beso this past Sunday, it was my third time eating at el beso, I have to say it was the best experience yet! I was treated really good by my server Fernanda, very pretty girl. She was very attentive and kind, never stopped smiling and checking up on my table. When I go to eat there again I will make sure to ask for her to be my server again ! I had steak tacos, they were pretty good but I think the taste can be improved, I ordered a captain morgan with diet and it was delivered before my food which I highly appreciate because I like having my drink while waiting for my food. Had a great time will be coming back again !

The inside of El Beso has got to be some of the coolest I’ve seen. The walls and decorations are very colorful and adds to the overall experience. However, if the same amount of effort applied to the decorations went into the food and service, this could be a favorite location of mine. The service was okay, our waitress didn’t seem enthusiastic to serve us but did check in. The food came out quickly during a lunch rush on a Saturday, but I’d rather have waited longer if that meant it tasted better. The food is more expensive compared to other competitors I’ve been to, and unfortunately the quality doesn’t match the price. Nothing we received seemed authentic. The chips tasted/looked like the ones you would get from a concession. I had a steak and avocado taco, the steak of which was dry. The rice and beans tasted like premade frozen food. I’d be willing to return to try something different.

I am so impressed with this place. We came in on a whim. We were in and out in 20 minutes. Food came out hot and so fast it blew our minds. Service was great. When it came down to paying, she brought over the card reader to our table so there wasn’t that wait for the card. We will definitely be back!
