If you know, you know. El Asador is truly a hidden gem. We’ve been coming here for years, and honestly, it has only gotten better—especially over the past few years with the new ownership.
This visit was no exception. I had the shrimp ceviche, which was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. My husband ordered the street tacos, which were excellent as always. Their fish tacos deserve a special mention too—some of the best around—but really, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.
And the margaritas? Hands down the best in town. Consistently well-made, not overly sweet, and just right every time.
If you’re looking for authentic, consistently great food with strong drinks and a place that’s been quietly doing it right for years, El Asador is it. A neighborhood favorite that deserves more recognition.

Had a family dinner party for some Mexican food. Food was delicious and service was excellent. Restaurant is family kid friendly and had live music making the atmosphere more chill. I had the beef burrito with beans and rice. Churros with ice cream for dessert. Our server Tifany S was awesome and assisted us with everything for our dinner. Will definitely be returning again.

I ordered the vegetable fajitas with portobello mushrooms, and they were delicious — perfectly grilled and full of flavor. What really surprised me was the roasted chile they placed on the hot plate — it added such a great touch! I’ve asked for that in other restaurants before and they never do it, but here they did it without me even asking.
The margarita was amazing, the service was super attentive and friendly ( I believe server’s name is Haris M ) and the place itself is very pleasant and welcoming. I’ll definitely be coming back!

It was truly an outstanding experience overall! I am not quite sure where to begin… The wait time was quite reasonable for a party of six, approximately twelve minutes, and the server and service were absolutely exceptional! The food was incredibly flavorful! Everything we sampled was bursting with flavor, served hot, and simply delicious. I would certainly recommend giving it a try..

Visited this restaurant and it was a major letdown. The food was incredibly tasteless and lacked any semblance of flavor. Would not recommend dining here – there are better options out there.. not one plate finished !!

The steak melts in your mouth! The sauces that come with the chips are great & authentic. Shrimp is expensive! About $4 a shrimp and they come on a bed of grilled onions . Charro beans are delicious! The cilantro rice is just white rice with cilantro on top, really not a flavored cilantro rice.

Me and my family absolutely love going to El Asador, hands down one of the best spots in Katy, Tx for amazing Mexican food! The chips and salsa are delicious, I have had a variety of dishes here and every single one has been great. And don’t get me started on the margaritas!

You guys have screwed up!!
We used to come here all the time, then new management has changed things. Prices have gone up considerably. I went to order takeout. Went straight to vmail. Saying have to order from website. I dont want to enter creditcard details on website so I called our other favorite place down mason rd. It was $30 cheaper for the same (4people) order and got more for less. If u took the order over the phone and didnt need me to plug in my creditcard details you may have kept me as a customer. But you also have to look at your prices. Too high with so many good places around.

I had a top shelf margarita and the bar tender customized it for me just the way I like it. He was so friendly, as was Pablo (the owner) who visited with me for a while. The shrimp quesadillas were great, and the guacamole was fresh and so tasty! This place is such a gem!
