Very disappointing experience.
My husband and I arrived around 7:40 PM. The restaurant was noticeably under capacity (not even close to full), yet we waited until 8:25 PM without anyone coming to our table.
Before leaving, we asked multiple servers for assistance and were completely ignored. As we walked out, we informed the receptionist that we were leaving due to the lack of service. Her response was simply “ok” while she remained on her phone. When I mentioned that ignoring customers is poor service, she replied, “ok, good night,” without looking up.
Waiting 45 minutes in a half-empty restaurant with no service is unacceptable. Very poor customer service. Do not recommend.

Within the wide variety of Mexican food restaurants, El Asadero Grill offers an authentic experience of typical cuisine.
You can find the well-known tacos; I especially recommend the carne asada (grilled steak) ones. If you like spice, try the chorizo (spicy sausage) ones, and if you want to try something new, the shrimp ones (camarón) are excellent. But they also have traditional dishes such as mole, pozole, or pancita (tripe soup).
I want to highlight the beauty of the place, which revives the tradition of Mexican haciendas, surrounded by Talavera (the decorative wall plates), wooden furniture, and a warm atmosphere.
However, for those who enjoy a party atmosphere, it has a very stylish bar with a great vibe.
Without a doubt, it’s one of our favorite places, with a prime location.

Food
Veggie fajitas were excellent. I was with a Mexican friend who swore the tortillas weren’t made in house, but as a gringa, they sure fooled me. The guacamole portion felt a little skimpy, but I’m honestly probably saying that because I inhaled the entire bowl within 30 seconds. Next time I’m also going to ask for more sour cream.
Ambiance ️
More polished than your average casual Mexican spot, but not stuffy. Definitely jeans-friendly.
Prices
Felt fair for the quality. Not bargain cheap, but not gouging either.
Service ♀️ ️
Perfectly fine–nothing remarkable, but no complaints.
Overall
Solid spot I’d happily go back to from time to time.

Ordered guacamole for $18.00 and the guacamole fills up less than 1/3 of a cup. See pic. Feels like crap when you pay good money and you open your Togo bag and see that.

It’s evident that this place is under new ownership or management, and the experience was truly enjoyable. The portions were generous and flavorful, and Valentina’s warm and attentive service made it even better. I highly recommend it.

I really enjoyed my time at El Asadero. The staff was super friendly and made me feel welcome right away. The place has a nice, chill vibe that makes it easy to just relax and enjoy your meal.
The food was on point. Everything came out fresh and tasty. The grilled chicken was very flavorful, definitely has my approval. The flan was to die for.
All around a great spot with good food and service. I’ll be sure to be back!

My partner and I have visited this location in Fort Lee about 5 times already. We absolutely love it there. We mainly go for drinks! Service is amazing. The hosts, servers & bar tenders, they are definitely a team, we love that. The atmosphere is beautiful. The mexican themed interior is beautiful and calm. Love the music because of course I can always sing along being a Latina. The food is great. So far everything that we have tried here, we love. Recommend the fajitas (chicken and steak combination). We love their drinks because they are not cheap with the liquor. If you like a nicely made drink, this is the spot. The drinks are not extra strong, but definitely not watered down. Made just right. I only wish they had some food included with their happy hour to go along with the drinks. Love love love the gentlemen that makes the guacamole in front of you & to your liking ( I always ask for no spicy). The last time we were there we happened to sit at the bar and got a chance to meet one of the owners. He’s so kind. Very outgoing man. I love the commitment to his establishment. Making sure that every thing runs smoothly.

I really wanted to give 5 stars. It’s just my margarita was super light. I didn’t taste any alcohol. The frozen margarita was good though. I don’t understand why they couldn’t make the regular one the same alcohol level.
But otherwise everything tasted wonderful and the price is reasonable given the nice ambience.
I will definitely return for happy hour drinks again. I’ll just be getting the frozen ones only.

Really Terrible – went on Valentine’s Day. they include tip automatically regardless of party size and their service reflects that. REALLY BAD – first our server got drink orders wrong, then when ordering tacos was told that they have none on Valentine’s Day (but have fajitas and other items with tortillas ) – stopped by to check on our food when we were almost done – then after waiting about 20 mins – I had to get up and find the waitress to ask for to go containers and the check. Honestly the worst service Ive had in a really long time. I HIGHLY suggest not going here

I placed a to-go order at the Fort Lee location. The online menu is not completely accurate to the menu at the restaurant. But I ordered Octopus Carpaccio with vinegar, red onion, tomato, arugula and a lot of Octopus. Mar y Tierra (Surf & Turf) was supposed to come on a bed of onion and red pepper but had broccoli on the side. And Cowboy Steak with grilled green onions, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes and broccoli. The food was delicious to-go. I’m excited to try dining in next! Definitely would order the Octopus Carpaccio again if they still have it.
