El Arroyo came highly recommended. I figured I’d stop and check it out and get a meal to go.

It was in the middle of the day between lunch and dinner. I ordered a salad and a side of chips and queso. The chips were meh at best.

While the hostess was very pleasant, I cannot say that the food lived up to the expectation.

The chips & queso was like nacho cheese and the serving size of the chips was a small sandwich size bag.

The salad was okay but lack luster. The greens was simply shredded lettuce. It was a bit bland.

Perhaps dinning in is a better experience & portion sizes but I would not recommend take out.

I’ve always wanted to come here when visiting Austin because of the silly sign. I was surprised at the quality of food and margaritas! Everything was AWESOME! I from the queso funido to the fajitas! We lived the chill atmosphere and quiet area. I highly recommend it.

Finally visited the iconic El Arroyo after 3 years of living in Austin—and it was worth the try! I tried the chicken & beef fajitas, the Cowboy Burrito, and the real star: their $9 margarita, which I honestly consider one of the best in town. Flavorful, strong, and such a steal. Service could’ve been better, but overall, it’s a yes from me. Classic Austin vibes! And i do recommend taking picture with their famous marquee sign.

My husband and I had dinner here while we were on a weekend getaway for our anniversary. Our food was amazing and we enjoyed sitting outside in the patio. Having never been here, I had high hopes for this Texas icon and it did not disappoint!

We are snobs when it comes to Mexican food but El Arroyo was better than I was expecting! I really wanted to try it because it’s an icon in Austin and I was very surprised that it wasn’t a tourist trap. Chips were delicious. Margaritas were good. Food was legit. Service was great!! Definitely worth the trip!

Three of us gathered here for an early lunch and sat out on the patio. A very friendly server immediately greeted us with complimentary chips and salsa. She was very patient with us when we talked for a few before even looking at the menu. When we did get food, it was scrumptious! The kitchen very kindly put together a tamale plate even though it was a day they didn’t normally serve them, and we also had chicken tortilla soup and mole enchiladas. Still love this old favorite!

We had a great time. The drinks were perfect, not too sweet. Our food was healthy, veggie fajitas and guac. Not crowded on Sunday about 1:30.

This place was better than I hoped for. There is lots of indoor and outdoor seating. The service was quick and friendly. The food was so good! The chicken tacos had a wonderful smoked flavor that was a level up from the average. The prices were good as well!
