I waited way too long to try this place. My boyfriend and I both got our own fiesta sampler platters and they were amazing. Had plenty for another meal at home. Service was great too.

This place is incredibly authentic, and the food was absolutely delicious! Our waiter was friendly and very accommodating, which made the experience even better. I had the enchiladas, they were amazing, especially the beef ones, which were probably my favorite. My friends loved their margaritas, and the chips and salsa were tasty. Highly recommend!

This restaurant is excellent. It hurts to see 4.4/5 average on here because that is not even remotely accurate. Service is excellent and VERY fast. Waiter consistently checked on us. Food has always been extremely tasty. Ask for grilled jalapeños on the side, you won’t regret it! Birria tacos were great!

First time coming here and it will be a one n only thing. The place doesn’t have a “clean” feel to it like sticky feeling tables chairs and the bathroom stalls were also in need of a cleaning. Our waitress left plenty of room for improvement on customer service. No smile and did not introduce herself. No recommendations even when she seen us struggling for a good beverage so we just got sodas. Our food did come out in a timely manner but it was another woman who brought it and we had to ask them to take away our finished appetizer plates so there would be room for us to enjoy our meals. One of the plates was good but the other two were very mediocre although I will say the rice n beans were the best part. The ribeye was overcooked we asked for medium and it was well done and not very flavorful. We had asked for refills on our drinks and she forgot so about 15 min later when she was walking by we had to remind her. We also had to wait for our check after we again had to ask for it. Never once did she ask us how our food was. The lights were dimmed way too low which made it hard to see the menu which was black with tiny writing on it. Overall we weren’t impressed and we go out to eat alot and normally don’t have to many bad experiences but this place couldn’t meet the bare minimum customer expectations.

I eat in here often! Decided to get take out and worst dinner decision ever! They gave me the completely wrong order! So after driving all the way home 4 miles away I open my bag and realize that they did not give me the right order so I had to go back thinking that maybe they would comp my meal or something, but they didn’t even remake it! I got the same order that they forgot to give me when I was there the first time so it had sat on their shelf for 45 minutes so by the time I got home, it was completely soggy barely edible had to re-fry the chimichangas because they were soggy the portion of rice was absolutely terrible toddlers eat more than that I will post pictures of the portion of the rice for $15. You should get a lot more rice, but it was extremely skimpy. Everything was skimpy. Even the chimichangas were super thin, barely any chicken inside of them! There are not very many good takeout places left in Erie And now this one has gone down the drain as well!

This place was pretty good! Portion sizes were a little small for an authentic Mexican restaurant, but everything tasted good. The birria could use more cheese, and they were served on flour tortillas, but the meat and consumme was very tasty. Would come again!

I do not typically write reviews, but I feel as if this is necessary. El Amigo has been a top choice for my family for many years. You always could count on reliable service, great food and an overall reasonable bill. Ownership for this restaurant has changed recently and this has really affected the overall quality of the characteristics listed above. A month or so ago I went to El Amigo for dinner, and I always get the Burrito Mojado as it has been my go to for multiple years. The first thing I noticed is the markup of price for all of their items. Understandable, businesses need to make money. I was shocked when my food came out and it was about half the portion that it used to be. They also forgot an item that was ordered and i did not see our waitress until the end of the meal so that item was taken off the bill as it was not served. I did not let this swing my opinion on this restaurant as maybe it was an off day.
Fast forward to tonight, and my opinion of this restaurant has done a complete 180. To start we were seated and placed our order. About 30-35 minutes went by until we got our food. While waiting for our food, there was an overflow of water coming from the back bathroom of the restaurant. An employee proceeded to use a shop-vac to vacuum the water up. The door was kept wide open which made the restaurant extremely loud and as most people know how shop-vacs work, it was sending air into the restaurant. This smelled like straight urine, it made the the restaurant smell so strong that the people next to us noticed as well. Once the shop-vacuuming was completed, the employee proceeded to wheel the shop-vac (that had just been used to clean up bathroom water) back into the KITCHEN! This was noticed by multiple people, and there were many comments made by tables how disgusting this was. When we got our food, still very small portions compared to the old owners. The cheese sauce was very watery and the food had a taste to it that tasted like a dirty rag that had been in soapy water. At first I thought it was just me, and then I had my wife try it and did not tell her about the off taste and she had said it had a old dirty rag taste to it. This taste was also tasted by another individual on their food as well. Throughout our experience we only saw our waitress twice. We placed a to-go order which took an extra 45-50 minutes to get. I really wanted to give the benefit of the doubt to the new owners taking over but after tonight we will not be back as it is not the same restaurant that it once was.

Generic in flavors and very common in what they “call” Mexican here in the states. No matter WHAT you see, the only thing that made this experience memorable was the staff combined with the portions. Other than that, I honestly wouldn’t go back. It was nothing special given what I know of real Mexican, both Texas Mexican and West Coast Mexican (even they are different from each other).
This stuff? I can get this from Taco Bell. Only Taco Bell is not this pretty…and far cheaper.

This is the spot for a great Mexican food, they give huge portion of food for a reasonable price. I really like their carne asada and carnitas as the meat is seasoned well and cooked perfectly. Always start of with their trio dips that consists of queso , chori-queso dip and the guacamole. Complimentary chips and salsa is served minutes right after you are seated.
Though, I must warn you that the service can be very slow and servers tend to be forgetful about parts of your order. Our last visit here they got our order wrong twice and this time they forgot 1 of our drinks and the tortilla. I would definitely come back for their food, but might just opt for a takeout instead.
