What a pleasant surprise! The staff has this down. The bar stays clean, the drinks get servered, the staff works like a well oiled machine. Impressed is not a good enough word. The atmosphere is dark, chill, super comfortable.

If you wanna have the best Carne Asada, you have found the right place! It is authentic, and it is noisy. It does not impose music you didn’t ask for! It’s authentic in every sense of the way – all of the servers I’ve ever encountered there have been more than pleasant!! it is a lovely place and my favorite Mexican restaurant simply because the atmosphere and this food synthesize into an experience that is comforting and satiating!

Everything about this place is amazing! To start off the people who work here (sergio,Raul, and a few others) are great at checking on you and making sure your good. And you feel like family as soon as you walk in. The chicken posole is fabulous for anytime, hungover, or just want some soupy stuff..the micheladas are fabulous with a Lil tequila in the yessss!! I love this place so much! It’s always clean and friendly. The thing that stood out the most is how clean it is and how the servers talk to everyone personally. They also have the sports bar next door which is great, go eat, and then go play.

Can’t believe I haven’t written a review yet! My family has been coming here for years, and we always leave happy. I’m obsessed with the shredded beef enchiladas, my boyfriend swears by the pork El Diablo, and the margaritas are amazing. The service is always top-notch—and I bring everyone here!

Short: Way overpriced, mediocre food.

Long: Let’s start with the chips and salsa, shall we? The red salsa that came with the chips seems an odd cross between BBQ sauce and perhaps a tangy molè sauce. Not at all salsa and not at all good. I requested and was granted a salsa verde which was significantly better. The chips, sadly, were thick and cold like they had been made the day before. These were the exact opposite of the hot chips straight from the oil that some other places provide. We’re decidedly off on the wrong foot.

I noticed that the prices are a bit out of reach here so I was hoping for something really special. With optimism I ordered the Natalia’s Special, a shredded chicken chimichanga. The menu did not mention rice and beans like it did on other plates so I was pleased to see these two faithful amigos when the plate showed up.

In short: it was ok. The rice and beans could have been culled from an Old El Paso microwave meal. The chimichanga came with a light dollop of sour cream and a light dollop of guacamole (as the menu promised) atop a pretty good portion of spiced shredded chicken. It was, on a scale of 1-10, a solid 5.5, perhaps a 6.

I drank water in defiance of their policy – clearly stated on their menu – that soft drinks are $3.50 and only one refill is allowed.

At this point it has become clear to me that El Adobe Cafe is irredeemable. They seem to miss the mark at every turn, with the exception of an excellent job of interior decorating.

Last, I see a lot of glowing reviews on here leading me to believe that people in Reno are either crazy or unacquainted with good Mexican food (and reasonable prices). Either way, my wallet and I are going to press on.

It’s good. They have some unique flavors.

Kinda pricey for Mexican food.

$115 for five people and no drinks!? If it was epic food, that would be OK, but it was far from anything special.

To all the reviews saying it’s too pricey this isn’t a $2 Mexican food truck. This is a family owned 2 in 1 restaurant that serves quality dishes.I always forget to post a picture because I clear the plate of food everytime. This is the best Mexican/American food. We come here all the time. Quick dishes and the best blended Margaritas that you could get in a pitcher. I ordered their wet burrito (20) with Verde sauce. Big plate of food for a great price!

The waiters and waitresses are always coming around asking if you need anything, great place with great food and service.
