When we entered the dark nearly empty space. There wasn’t a server in sight. Two minutes in no server. I went to the register 30 second wait and a young woman comes from the kitchen. I told her we needed a menu and started small talk about food recommendations. She replied wait until you sit down, bad vibe from her! She gave food recommendations. I ordered bitter leaf soup, IT WAS HORRIBLE!! We ordered strips of spicy beef and wanted another order. The server had to be flagged down despite the fact there were only 4 people in the room. She never checked on us to see if we needed anything! $88.00 dollars for 3 people including the tip we left hungry and disappointed since all reviews for Ecko Africa were good! THE SERVICE AND FOOD BELOW EXPECTATIONS!! It’s a club on Sunday’s’ but the lights are dim even when it’s not time to party. Maybe they were going for a romantic vibe, BIG FAILURE!! Don’t waste your time or MONEY AT THIS PLACE!

I come here at least twice a month, and every single time it’s an amazing experience. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and authentic. Eko truly knows how to deliver on taste. I usually order the Egusi and Efo, and they never disappoint; the portions are generous and seasoned to perfection. Beyond the food, the customer service is consistently warm, attentive, and welcoming, which makes the entire visit feel even better.

Although I am African American, this was my first time trying African food. My 12 year old son had done his research and talked me into trying this restaurant. We went in and ordered then sat at the bar waiting for our food to take home. While waiting,I received a call . I handed the cash to my son from a pouch that has a strap to carry around the wrist. I stepped out of the restaurant for about five minutes. When I return our food wasn’t quite ready so I return to my seat next to my son at the bar. Soon after the young lady called us to the cash register with our food . We paid Fifty eight dollars for two entries and fufu. I grab the bag from the countervbut they cashier insisted that I look at the meals. I took my pouch from around my wrist and placed it on the counter next to the bag and I opened it. Took a look at everything and the retied the bag tipped the waitress with the 2 dollars from my change and left the restaurant. We sat in the parking lot for a couple of minutes nibbling on the food. We then left headed to Walmart. When we got to the parking lot I started searching for my pouch. I looked everywhere in the car but couldn’t find it. So I headed back to the restaurant. We were only gone for about 10 minutes. When we walked in the same cashier walked away from the counter and headed to the back. I looked over where we were sitting and didn’t see anything. When she returns I asked if I left my gray pouch on the counter? She said No I haven’t seen it ,, but claimed I took it with me. A gentleman sitting at the bar said maybe you left it somewhere else. I said No this is the only place I have been. It has to be here. But I still went out side in my car to make sure. When I returned inside,I saw that a camera was right over the bar I asked if they can check the footage? She said only the owner can but he was not coming for another hour. I said I can’t leave any way, everything I have was in that pouch, Money and credintisls. So she gets the owner on the phone, he said he won’t be in for another two hours. I said I be here because I can’t leave. So me and my son who just had surgery one week ago, sat in the booth waiting while others were served and left. My son was crying , we had gone through so much these last couple of months and it was really stressful. I tried to give the restaurant the benifit of dought, I couldn’t believe they would do this to us. No one carried they carried in as if we weren’t there, so I took out my phone and called the police. I explained what happened,so they sent an officer so I could make a report to be able to get my credentials back. As I waited for the police, the waitress walked over and ask if this was my pouch? She pointed to the bar stool where we sat earlier, I looked on the floor and saw my pouch, folded and tucked. I walked over and grabbed it, my money and credintisls were still inside. I thank her, apologized and left. We were so relieved. I called the officers back to cancel the report. I will never return there. The food wasn’t good nor was the customer service. My so and I went straight home and didn’t come out again for three days. We were so hurt and traumatized from the experience, because we both looked in that spot first before asking about it and it wasn’t there.

i was told to come here by my nigerian friend and i was HIGHLY disappointed. i got the egusi with goat meat and fufu. my partner got the jollof rice with chicken. she was going to get goat because the woman who took our order said she eats her jollof rice with goat but i am glad she didn’t get the goat because the goat was the toughest meat i have ever had in my life. not sure if it was leftover from another day or just overcooked but i know goat meat isn’t supposed to be that tough as i have had egusi with goat meat before. my partner couldn’t even eat her chicken. it was tough also and dry. the food was not edible. the egusi had a foul taste and the jollof rice was subpar. this meal was not good at all. it’s a shame that this is one of the only west african restaurants in the area and it isn’t worth it. also, the atmosphere is peculiar. we walked into the grocery market on the first floor and we were not greeted kindly but kind of weirdly led upstairs to the restaurant área where there were over 5 men at a table talking loudly at what seemed to be a bar. the woman who took our order was very dry and you could tell she didn’t want us to eat there in the establishment. i literally couldn’t even eat my egusi with goat meat because it was so TOUGH. i definitely recommend getting food elsewhere. the malt drinks were the only thing that was good. this isn’t the place to come.

I bought side by side jollof and fried rice ,and also bought pounded yam and vegetables. The pounded yam and efo taste amazing, the jollof is ok, but there is no reason the fried rice is over seasoned, me and my husband could not eat, and also, its going bad already. This review is coming from a food certified manger 4 years experience. The meat is crusty and tasty

Customer service was rough, food was horrible! We ordered Egusi soup, okra stew and jollof rice and chicken, none of it was edible accept the rice. Chicken. Smelled old and was cooked hard and dry. The soup was all egusi and oil and had zero flavor. 10/10 I DON’T RECOMMEND!!! Nice space but baseboards could use some cleaning, and noise from TV’ and stereo. Just choose one. $75 dollars down the drain.. please this isn’t how authentic African cuisine tastes.
