The fish is incredibly fresh. the sashimi is sweet and melts in your mouth. The chef slices everything beautifully, and the food quality is excellent. The service is warm and friendly.

I highly recommend the Matcha Martini — it’s definitely one of my favorite spots that you shouldn’t miss.

Excellent Thai fusion restaurant in North Chicago. We started off with an order of gyoza that were fried perfectly and had a good amount of filling in them. For my entree I had the Udon Panang Curry. The curry itself was one of the best I have had anywhere! It’s served over udon noodles instead of rice (Thai fusion). I think I still prefer curry over rice, but the noodles were a unique pairing that I’m glad I have experienced.

The servers were all very friendly. The once negative we had during our experience had to do with receiving our food. We were a party of four and all of our dishes came out at different times. From the time of the first dish to the time of the fourth, at least 7 or 8 minutes had passed.

Overall this is an excellent restaurant if you’re looking for Thai inspired dishes in the area.

Had a great meal here for Valentine’s Day! Loved the tofu katsu don. There were many great options on the menu for vegetarians. The ambience is so relaxing with the soft light of the lanterns. They have a lot of alcohol and NA drink options but you can BYOB as well!

I’m on a current quest to only order from restaurants directly instead of third party apps, and have had two good experiences with Ekiben so far! I’ve passed here but not been inside yet, it looks pleasant and down to earth. The ordering site is cute and well laid out, and most items have pictures if you want to see the dish. I’ve really enjoyed the rolls and onigiri I’ve had so far. The main dishes I’ve tried are cooked well but could use a bit more seasoning/flavor. For my budget the prices are a little more of a treat yourself moment, but the value of reliability is something to consider.

Hyena Flamingo

The interior is cozy with lots of wooden detailing and furniture, reminiscent of a food stall in Japan. Delicious fried roll with creaminess from the avocado and refreshing pink ranger roll with the torched fish. Will definitely be back to try out the other ranger rolls next time.

Short review:
it was great, the food was good, the service was quick, and the atmosphere reminded me of Japan.

Long Review:
When me and my friends were celebrating a birthday, we were reminiscing about our time in Japan and as such we were looking for a restaurant to remind us of that wonderful time. This was that restaurant for us in the city. It reminded us of the small mom and pop restaurants we enjoyed in Kyoto.
The appetizers were great, tasty but not filling, The Rice bowls were Excellent and was a great mix of flavors. And dessert…my friend enjoyed dessert so thoroughly that, he was breathless.
Thank you to the owners, for reminding us of a fond and magical time with your food and restaurant.
