Stopped in as it was close to the hotel I was staying in. Walking in the place it is a great looking place with a bar centered in the middle. We were seated at the garage doors, on a quite cool day so you literally feel the cold blowing in. Great waiter!!
The tomatoes looked like they were cut with a spine of the butter knife. Definitely could work on finesse with knife skills. The airline chicken was soooo overcooked cooked it needed the sauce to chew it. They slice the chicken with slits (can’t cook) is not needed when cooking chicken breast will definitely dry it out.
The same would go for the red fish. Very dry and over cooked. I did not get a sauce with it so there was no help to moisten it up without just taking a gulp of sparkling water with each bite.
For their price point and ambiance should definitely have better cooking habits. Basics!!

Since this venue is associated with the Four Diamond Jekyll Island Club, decided to give it a try. The dining room is attractively appointed/furnished, however, not a big fan of having to look at a bar and television. Menu somewhat limited, but managed to find a selection. Salads were delicious and innovative. Steaks prepared to requested doneness but meat itself lacked flavor, even with the supposed chimichurri added. Service was adequate and friendly; however, table maintenance is lacking, no cross service of tables by other servers, and f/u during dining was almost non existent. No mention or suggestion of dessert or after dinner beverages. Did not observe any management on the floor during the visit. Men’s room was out of towels and the floor was wet from over aiming. Upon departure, front desk attendant for the hotel (which shares the space with the restaurant) didn’t acknowledge our presence or bid us farewell or provide a thank you. Overall this was a mediocre experience costing over 250.00 for two at a Four Diamond Award winning resort. Too bad.

Eighty Ocean is a wonderful place to have brunch on the weekend while in Jekyll Island! Tasty food, healthy options, and great drinks! Our server was awesome! He really worked hard to make sure we had an enjoyable lunch experience. He even comped one of our drinks because he thought it did not come out fast enough. How rare and awesome is that!! We really appreciated the courtesy and his consideration. This restaurant has a very large bar and lots of window seating with a great view of the pool outside. It’s definitely a nice spot for a meal or just to come in for drinks at the bar.

Skip this place. Do not come here. We all work to hard for our money to have it taken by this mediocre resteraunt. Made a reservation on THEIR WEBSITE for the screen porch for 730. We got there and they said they didn’t have availability. We waited nearly 30 minutes for a table. Not worth it! Pitch dark outside. Couldn’t see a thing. (I know it’s for the turtles but it was crazy dark) once we were sat we eating nearly 20 more minutes for a waiter to arrive. Now it’s nearly 830 crazy. Steak was ok but overpriced. Ceaser salad was just an head of lettuce cut in half and charged $17 for. Inedible. Flat bread pizza was undercooked and cold. And staff seemed ready to close. Unapologetic and unconcerned about the horrible experience we were about to be charged $185 for our birthday outing. Jekyll is great so come to see the sights but skip this place. Save your money and your sanity and go somewhere else. Unfortunately choices are limited on the island but try hard to not come here. You’re welcome! Hope I saved ya. Also check out the other reviews (I wish I had). They are similar to mine.

Enjoyed a slow dinner at the bar, wait staff was really thoughtful and explained the menu to me for each course! Overall everything required salt and I’m not a salty food person and everything was slightly overcooked.
The deviled eggs were my favorite of the meal! The apple tart was yummy too!
I had high hopes for the carrots but they were all over done, over charred and needed more goat cheese. The mashed potatoes were good but I didn’t get the richness of the cream cheese I’d hoped for!
The red fish was prepared lovely but I didn’t understand the meal overall. The creamed corn was too sweet for the meal and did not compliment the charred mushrooms in any way. All the elements were great, just not together as a cohesive bite.
Overall, would return but listen to my gut when it comes to the menu, not the young bartenders.

Our service provided by Edgar was a 10/10. Not only was the service amazing the food, ambience, and company was amazing. The manager Faith stopped by our table and checked in on us. If you’re in the area make sure to stop in!

Celebrated our 47th anniversary here. Food is incredible. Atmosphere is incredible. Nicole was a great server. Had Fetuccine Alfredo, Greek salad, warm olives and even the dessert, which we got complimentary. This place is greatly underrated way over 4.0

Disappointing food and lackluster service. While staying at Jekyll Island Club we asked for recommendations for a great dinner and 80 Ocean was staff pick. Very pretty spot with beach vibe. That was the highlight.
Drinks were mediocre at best; very watered down Paloma that had a sweet aftertaste. They did not have striped bass — since it’s a very limited menu one item missing is a big deal. Opted for apps and flatbread instead. Blue crab deviled eggs were a joke! Two eggs with a smear of some sort of crab paste on the plate. Fried chicken livers ok, nice presentation. Vadalia flatbread was a gooey mess of cheese on a tough crust, topped with deli ham. All in all, less than average food.
Our server was sweet but since we were only table in the place she seemed focused on closing procedures rather than guest service. No check ins, no follow up.
Try some of Jekyll’s other spots before 80 Ocean…I would skip this place

Went for Thanksgiving meal. Staff all very friendly. Prix fixe menu. Kids were not impressed with the butter noodles. Bread was great. Food was good, service somewhat slow. Saw an employee use restroom and not wash their hands. Appreciate everyone working Thanksgiving.

The atmosphere is open and airy. Reservations were running a bit behind but went to the fantastic bar and ordered drinks. We were able to transfer the drink ticket to the table. Service was 100 percent. Confident and professional. Clean and tidy restrooms. Recommend and will be returning to try other items on the menu
