This place may not be the biggest name around. However, they made the best chicken sandwich I have had. The pimento cheese burger was top of the line as well. This is a little corner tavern where the locals visit regularly. This is a must visit place. Next time, I will try the wings.

Dani is the best chef in town. You want a meal that will feel like home and make you feel good inside? Come eat anything on the menu at Eight and Sand. The environment is wonderful and full of community. This place is a safe haven for foodies and great people.

DON’T get the chicken here! It’s about as poor quality as processed Tyson chicken. I asked when I ordered what kind of chicken they use in their wraps. The owner stated it was their boneless wings cut up. My mistake to think they were fresh boneless chicken wings. This is the equivalent of processed Tyson frozen “all white meat” chicken product—-very low actual meat content and mostly gristle/fillers. NOT what you expect from a restaurant up and coming, especially the response. Manager/owner Nate was rude when I attempted to address it with politeness. Really wanted to try them again, but NO!

Went here last night for the first time, my 40th birthday. We were just going for low key Bday. This is 100% my type of place. Bartender is super cool, the crowd is laid back. The grub is off the hook. We had the railyard chicken sandwich. Fried chicken, jalapeno, honey: off the hook. We also had a pimiento smash burger with a really good sauce, a couple teriyaki wings because it was $1 wing night (they were tender meaty and not overpowered by the HOUSEMADE teriyaki)….and we got a side of mac and cheese. The cheese sauce is home made, has a really savory/briny flavor. I had a few beer. The wife had a mule and a Tom Collins: both of which she really enjoyed.

It’s a random residential neighborhood, like somewhere I grew up. We will definitely be back.

We enjoy going out on Wednesdays to eat and explore new places. I also like small, out-of-the-way neighborhood places. Eight & Sand in Hungarian Village is the epitome of a neighborhood bar. It’s small inside, with a great bar down one side of the space, a few high-top two-seaters, and half-booths taking up the rest. There was room for standing around, and everyone was friendly. They had a wide selection of beer, and it was really cold. The food was better than expected for a borderline dive bar. My burger was excellent, with just the right amount of cheese and dressing. My wife had a meatball sub that was the special and declared it mighty acceptable. 8 and Sand is a great place, so if you are into getting out of your rut, we highly recommend them.

On a second trip, our experience was again super. The bartender was the owner. He greeted us as regulars. My with had the special steak torta steak, smashed avocado, LTO, and chimichurri on a toasted hoagie, and I had Coney Dog1/3lb all beef, house coney sauce, onions, cheddar, yellow mustard, toasted bun. Both were large portions. This place has a dive bar neighborhood vibe and is a super place.

I love this place. Their wings are delicious, the pimento smash burger is my go to every single time. Decent beer selection with all the Liquors you could ask for. They have multiple tvs for game days and a friendly neighborhood atmosphere

I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was and the bartender was very nice and helpful. It’s a dive bar which is exactly what I was looking for. The area is a little sketch but as soon as you walk in you feel welcomed. The fries with the beer cheese was Amazing and the fried pickle spears were so tasty.

Awesome environment, cold beer, and well cooked food. I got a chicken sandwich and fries. Only complaint is food tasted like fryer oil was at end of life. Not bad, but not the as good as it could have been if cooked in fresh oil.

Fabulous bar in south cbus. Food was exceptional and pretty good craft beer selection. We had banh mi with Mac n cheese and railyard chicken with loaded fries. Def worth a visit.
Feb 2024 update-still serving exceptional food and great service. Tonight we had shrimp and grits, brined and confit’d wings, shared the house salad plus beer. Ate for under $50. It was $1 wing night. But still this place is great.
