Small, almost ramshackle appearance on exterior. Clean, small, intimate on the interior. Place was for the locals & another person I met in passing suggested it. Fast service, the place was clean as staff were immediately in action after anyone left a table, and the food was well seasoned. I ordered chopped steak (medium well). It came with two eggs, hash browns, two pancakes. Only complaint was chopped steak was a tad bit tough & pancakes were a tad bit stiff. Dish came out with steak sauce; I appreciated that. Sat behind four Calumet Park cops talking do’s/don’ts & strategy upon encountering a situation. That was interesting to hear.

Here for breakfast, ample parking. Older building doesn’t look like much from outside, same on the inside. Looks clean, food is excellent. Great selection, served quickly. I would come back. Reasonable prices.

I had the chicken and waffles. The chicken was nice n crispy; the Imperial coffee was really good. A pleasant change from folgers so the food was really good. Been wanting to hit this joint up for years every time I take a ride to the heights. There’s not too many of these breakfast joints left; so support this business. I would love to sit at a counter facing the kitchen to really have that old-school diner feel!

Upon first entering this beautiful restaurant, we were greeted at the door. The atmosphere is extremely warm, inviting and pleasant. The food is extremely extremely good my guest and I had the fried chicken wings and waffles for my sides were hash browns, eggs with mozzarella cheese and mushrooms, and I must say it was beyond from what I pre-expected and extremely tasty delicious meal. My guest had the exact same thing minus the mushrooms in his eggs and he had a side of grits instead of hashbrowns, and he agrees that the dish he had was extremely delicious the fried chicken is like oh my goodness like that season slap your mama this is fried chicken to slap the cook. It is extremely black woman approved. I definitely give the Egg Shack Restaurant AAAAAAAAAA+++++++++ shout out to our server Norma, the owner Sal and cooks Charlie, Egar, and Luis and the entire Egg Shack Team. Thanks for great service, food and atmosphere.

This is normally my go to restaurant, I literally always have a great experience but today was so different. The energy, the food, the service was all bad. We got our food and all of the pancakes were missing. The waitress said “they are coming off the griddle”. She never came back to the table, we ate the food and when she came back finally I had already complained that we already finished eating and pancakes were pointless even though that’s what I really wanted. The manger lady said “ well if you don’t want them anymore we will just take a few bucks off.” Get the bill and she took off $4 total for BOTH of our pancakes missing . Then the waitress had the nerve to say “we usually only take off a $1!” Mam, you’re literally missing the best part of both of the meals! The upcharge for pancakes is more than that. But it’s alright, I won’t return and normally I’m there almost once a week. Very disheartened in the service today and the attitude towards their mistakes!

If I could rate this a zero I would this was the second attempt they made for my food this morning and both plates was not good. Pancakes texture was very bad . My pancakes were also cold right round and steak was so hard couldn’t cut it both times . The sevice was well tho but I couldn’t get with it
