Went to Ed’s in Spanish Fort for lunch with my hubby. The crab bisque had a wonderful flavoring and the seafood Gumbo was good also. Ordered the fried green tomatoes and they were delicious. The signature salad was awesome. I really enjoyed the shrimp pasta and it was very tasty. Highly recommend Ed’s in Spanish Fort Al. One more thing the Cole slaw that was served when we arrived was absolutely delicious. We loved everything we ordered. Our server Lucas was awesome!

Five stars isn’t enough! I’ve loved Ed’s for over 10 years – since the original family owned it. I was heartbroken when it burned in 2021, so I knew I had to plan a special trip from Birmingham when it reopened! The new location has a great atmosphere, fully staffed (which is a miracle these days), and the same great food selection! Donna took great care of us!

Very fresh seafood and I was surprised by how much I liked the fried green tomatoes. I highly recommend that as a starting appetizer in addition with the baked oysters. For main course I had fish tacos and was too full to eat the friend fish but had a bite. It was my least favorite dish so I’m glad I had it last.

Went for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Got the shrimp omelette and hubby got the Country Bowl. SO GOOD. I am honestly sad that we have lived here all these years and never eaten here! Highly recommend!

The food was amazing! Fried green tomatoes cooked perfectly and the grilled shrimp bowl was the perfect combination of cheese grits and greens. We will definitely be going back!!!

Went to Ed’s for the first time and was met by a friendly service team. Got some recommendations from our server, and I settled on the fried green tomatoes as a starter. Presentation, 5 stars, and the taste was equally as good with the crawfish tail sauce. Portion size was plentiful.
I ordered the combination platter with fried shrimp and oysters; along side were fries. I must admit I thought the portion size was short of my expectations. None the less, I was just barely able to complete the task. The oysters were tasty, and so were the shrimp. I would like to see larger shrimp on the platter.

Excellent experience from the time we were greeted until we left. They gave us coleslaw and crackers for the table and was very yummy! I had the shrimp with a cornmeal breading, my daughter had the pasta and my Dad had the crab soup, all very good. Service was excellent, pop kept refilled and server was very attentive and polite without being overbearing.

First time in Alabama and went to Ed’s Seafood Shed on the recommendation of the person who I stayed with. The drive was nice and the views were beautiful. I got to the restaurant around 7:45-8pm and sat on the back deck outside. The weather was nice. I had a waitress on training which was fine, both waitresses (trainer and trainee) were nice and helpful at making suggestions. I settled with the stuffed filet which was a Swai fillet on top of a crab cake with a side of wild rice and an additional couple of shrimp. My waitress suggested a crawfish sauce to go on top.
My meal came out quick and was quite tasty. After my meal arrived the attentiveness of the waitstaff was pretty much no existent. There was a family of 5 on the deck as well who had ordered drinks from the bar and were having problems as well – I don’t think they ever got their bar drinks and eventually had to go find someone to get their bill so they could leave. There was another gentleman behind me who had been waiting quote a while for his food and when their food arrived, the waitstaff said that “someone had stolen it” and that “they had to make another one.”
I started getting “eaten” by biting bugs while in the middle of dinner but not as bad as the family of 5 who rushed through their meal so they could get away from the bugs.
All in all, I’d probably not come back to Ed’s unless someone else wanted to go. The views were nice, the food was decent (but a bit overpriced… At $43 for one person) but the service was lacking. I’ve worked in food service before and know what to expect so I can be a bit over critical when it comes to wait staff and service received. The restaurant wasn’t *that* busy to prevent the trainee and/or trainer from being more attentive.

My husband and I met up with another couple for dinner and wanted to try out Ed’s for the first time. I decided on the fish fillet which was filling and delicious. My husband got the fish sandwich and was still hungry afterwards. I think the portions could be better with some of the items that our friends were served as well.

I ordered parmesan crusted fish. It was delicious and came with rice, greens and bread. My husband ordered the special, which was sausage, shrimp, corn, and potatoes, all well seasoned. The waitress kept his glass full, which, for us, is a big factor in their tip. Otherwise, they were not overly attentive. We had to send someone for the waitress to get our bill and a to go container. The food took a little longer getting there than I would have thought, but it was hot and fresh.
