Old-school, no-frills spot with hefty burgers, fried chicken & milkshakes, plus takeout.

I LOVE ED’S! This is mine and my parents favorite place to eat at in defuniak springs. The burgers are amazing, the staff is phenomenal, and the vibes are perfect for a diner/restaurant like this. We literally always stop here every time we come to defuniak springs. They also have wonderful soft serve ice cream!!!

We were hungry and on a hunt for good found and somehow stumbled across this place, Ed’s Restaurant. It was like a hidden gem. The service was amazing and the food was too! It was simple, straightforward and not pretentious, just good American diner style food! The same family has been running it since 1964 and never compromised on the flavor!! My husband had a classic Pub burger with fries and a hot dog. I had a grilled teriyaki chicken sandwich with onion rings, corn nuggets and a handmade hot fudge milkshake. When I tell l you that the food was so shockingly good, it disappeared fast!! If you are ever in this area of Alabama, please give Ed’s a go, you will never be disappointed!!

Very dingy little restaurant. All the seats are right next to the fryers so everything smells like grease. When I came in, I was told to sit anywhere. It took 7 minutes for someone to come with the menu, then another 12 for someone to ask for my order. After I placed my order, it took 10 minutes to get my drinks and then almost 40 minutes to get my food. Food was not seasoned, not even with salt. Everything is premade in the fridge and just pulled out and reheated. I got the grilled chicken club and onions rings. The whole time I was there, an older lady with bleach blonde hair was yelling at all the teen boys working in the kitchen. The waitress seemed overwhelmed but also like she couldn’t care less. The chicken on the grilled chicken club was a very strange texture (almost like a thick marshmallow) but the flavor of the sandwich was certainly decent. The onion rings were fried in a super sweet batter and the onions were overcooked. All in all, food was cheap and cheaply made.

Lovely place… I’ve lived in the area a long time and had always passed it up but it was amazing. The workers who some seemed to be pretty young was very friendly and service was faster than I thought it was gonna be. And I kid you not this place may have some ware and tear but it’s really clean. The vents above the frier and grills were extremely clean. Most places this would be disgusting. You can tell they take pride in what they do! And Jackson was super kind. Amazing place definitely recommend.

Enjoyed omelettes for breakfast, the food was very good. The prices were inexpensive and everyone who works here is super sweet. I do believe I picked the correct breakfast restaurant for this town.

Such a quaint throw back to a different time. Love the drive-in vibe. This place had awesome burgers, fries and shakes. I always get the Pub Burger. This thing is a beast. A very heavy hamburger with loys of meat. I like it with just mustard and pickles but they will do it all the way or anyway you want it. Inside amd outside seating. Nice staff.

Love going to Ed’s. They serve a pretty good menu with everything uou might want. Although Ed’s is famous for their extremely well crafted juicy burgers, the Philly Cheese Steak is go to these days. If im remembering my last visit you had a choice if you wanted to order French fries, crinkle cut or regular!
☆ Now for the best part. Ed’s is noted for having the very best milkshakes. I always order the Hot Fudge Sundae one ☆

We found Ed’s burgers a month ago. Just looking for a good mom and pop place. We found what we were looking for. The service was great and the food was excellent. The hamburgers are so big they have to cut them in half for you. Real meat, not processed, very juicy and delicious. It’s two hours from our house but worth the ride. We’ve been back since and experienced the same good service and great food! A must go to if you like a great hamburger! Highly recommend this place!

I heard this place was amazing, so naturally I needed to try it. Although it felt warm and friendly like a true mom and pop restaurant, the food was sub par. I had the chicken fried steak sandwich and although it tasted ok, it really hurt my stomach. The sandwich itself was dry, so I ordered the gravy that usually comes with the steak plate. That helped, but again, it just didn’t sit well. Also, my food came and I finished it before my friend’s food even arrived. Timing the meals to come out together would have been nicer 😉
