If you’re anywhere near Blue Island and haven’t tried Edible Passport, you are seriously missing out.

I actually drove an hour to try this place after seeing it on TikTok. The reviews were great, the pictures were beautiful (and let’s be honest, we all eat with our eyes first). And let me just say… it was absolutely worth the drive.

I had the fried catfish with a salad and waffles — perfectly seasoned, crispy, and cooked just right. The gumbo with cornbread was AMAZING. Rich, flavorful, and comforting in all the right ways. I also ordered the fried panko shrimp and paired everything with an espresso martini that was smooth and perfectly balanced.

The playlist did not miss. It was hit after hit after hit. The vibe, the energy, the atmosphere… everything flowed perfectly. The decor is a perfect themed fit to the menu and restaurant name.

I had excellent service from Dara, who was my waitress, and an assist from another wonderful woman working the bar who was very attentive as well. Overall, the service was top-tier. It was also really special that Chef Jen came out to greet me personally. I just wish I had grabbed a picture with her!

I was thinking to myself “she looks and sounds familiar”. Come to remember, she was a contestant on Gordon Ramsey’s Hell’s Kitchen. That made it even better, especially since the last five-star review I gave was for Hell’s Kitchen, in Miami. Excellence clearly recognizes excellence.

From the food to the music to the service, everything was on point. Edible Passport is truly a gem, and I will definitely be back, even if it means another hour drive. I’m going to tell everyone about this place. You have to experience it yourself.

I came here yesterday for date night with my boyfriend and I literally couldn’t wait to leave a review. This place gets a 10/10 all around. A hidden gem. We were greeted warmly by Monica, who was a sweetheart. The ambiance was so relaxing and inviting. All the music was R&B, Neo-soul, afrobeats, etc. The drinks were amazing, the appetizer was DELICIOUS and the Entree was so good!!! The service was great as well. I cannot wait to come here again! 10/10 highly recommend!

Had the absolute pleasure of dining at Edible Passport in Blue Island, Illinois✈️ — and OMG! this place is a hidden gem! It has that cozy small-town charm with a family-owned warmth that makes you feel instantly welcome.

We started with the Jerk Chicken Sliders (Jamaican-inspired) — packed with bold flavor, and that pineapple slaw took it to the next level.

Next up was the Indonesian Peanut Chicken Satay — perfectly seasoned and tender, served over rice with the most delicious peanut sauce. Honestly, this might have been my favorite dish of the night!

Then came the Grilled Chicken Bao Buns (China) — soft, flavorful, and beautifully layered with fresh veggies and tangy sauces. Total flavor explosion!

Of course, we couldn’t skip the Truffle Fries — crispy, rich, and addictive. ✨

To top it all off, I ordered the Blueberry Lemon Drop Martini — stunning presentation and bursting with flavor.

Overall, Edible Passport was an absolute home run. The global theme is creative and fun, every dish was fantastic, and the presentation was top-notch. Meeting Jennifer and hearing the story behind the restaurant made the experience even more special.

If you’re ever in the area — or even flying out of Midway — it’s well worth the quick 20-minute drive. You’ll leave full, happy, and already planning your next “trip” around the menu. ✈️

I wasn’t disappointed in this place at all. I went for a late lunch. It was only me and my friend there and someone at the bar. This is a hidden gem. There was only 1 person working. She may have been the owner or manager. She was very nice and attentive. The watermelon margarita was delicious. Sliders werent dried out. I had the gumbo, very flavorful but definitely tasted better the next day. Only complaint I had about the food, there wasn’t enough truffle on the fries. I will definitely be back.
The space where they are was another restaurant, I used to dine there. The restaurant is currently using the furniture from the other restaurant, which I get is cheaper. I don’t know if it was the building or the furniture but it smelled old and musty. Just need to have some wall plug ins, or something.

Walking into Edible Passport felt like stepping into a secret haven. It was the kind of place where time slows down, and you can truly relax. The atmosphere is calm and cozy, a perfect spot to sit back and enjoy something amazing. The one item that immediately caught my eye was the Tennessee Hot Chicken Slider. From the very first bite, I knew I was in for something unforgettable. The buttery hot sauce had a perfect balance, spicy yet smooth, coating the crispy Southern fried chicken breast. The chicken was everything you hope for: crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside, packed with flavor without a hint of grease. It was one of those bites you always dream about but rarely find. Then, the cheddar added this rich, creamy contrast, melting just enough into the chicken to blend with the heat. The slaw brought a fresh crunch with every bite, and it wasn’t just there for texture—it had this cool, tangy zing that perfectly balanced the heat. But the real surprise was the house pickles. They had this bold, briny kick that elevated everything, cutting through the richness and adding a bright, zesty note. Each bite was like a flavor symphony spicy, tangy, creamy, crunchy, all working together in perfect harmony. It didn’t feel like just another sandwich, it felt like something crafted with care, with every ingredient having a purpose. If you’re looking for more than just a meal, something that hits all the right notes in a relaxed, welcoming spot, Edible Passport is where you need to be.

I ordered their catering for my sisters bridal shower brunch, all the food was delicious and we liked the presentation. So I decided to stop by the establishment for a quick dinner and I was very pleased. My meal of lamb chops, Mac & cheese and rice was very tasty. The roasted peppers complimented the dish. They didn’t have the dessert I wanted which was a bummer. The server was very attentive and pleasant.

The experience, and the food was delightful. I had the bottomless mimosas. Each glass was hand crafted by the owner. The flavors were top tier. The crab rangoon dip was so good. I will definitely return very soon.

The food was very salty like to much seasoning I had the gumbo with a side of wings. Im a social media influencer who has an African boyfriend. I thought this would be the perfect place to bring him due to different styles of food they offer. Honestly wasn’t the best and I waitress was terrible. The manager did a much better service job on the second round though.
