Wow – what a meal. What an experience. Such creativity and taste. Come willing to open your mouth and mind. It’s amazing.

Please note: if you like things like Olive Garden and huge ridiculous American portions, this is not for you.

Eculent is for those who like to explore …

Chef David Skinner did an outstanding job with Eculent. Every single course was incredible, and this quickly became one of my favorite tasting menus in Houston. The creativity behind each dish really sets this place apart—Eculent delivers an experience you truly won’t find anywhere else in the city.

The dinner is about $239 per person, with optional wine pairings at $129 per person, plus a 20% service charge. It’s definitely on the higher end, but honestly, I felt it was worth the splurge for such a memorable and well-executed meal.

I also love that the menu is seasonal and constantly changing, which makes the experience exciting every time you go. Every dish we had was fantastic—no complaints at all. If you’re into unique, elevated tasting menus, Eculent is absolutely worth trying.

It’s weird rating this a 3 while rating the food, service and atmosphere a 4, but let me explain. This is me comparing it to other restaurants at this price point not restaurants in general. And this may seem being over the top, but I feel when you charge a certain price that comes with a level of expectations.

First and biggest negative for me is being forced to use my phone. They have no paper menus and you have to scan a QR code and put in info in order to get a drink. The last thing I want to do when being on a date is pull out a phone. Also, when booking a reservation I had to go on open table and pay in advance. It really wasn’t clear on what you’d be paying for and not user friendly.

The food was very good, but for the price it just wasn’t there. At other restaurants I’ve been to at this price point I normally have a few bites that are possibly the best thing I’ve ever had. The food here was very good, just for me not worth the cost.

The service was good, but again when you pay these prices you have a certain expectation. Your glass should never run empty, you should never have questions, and there’s normally something next level.

Love the atmosphere. Very unique and whimsical. Only negative would be the set up at several tables isn’t the best situated for dining or dates. Table height on many isn’t great for dining. Also you’re forced to sit beside your date on several tables and you normally want to sit across, so you can look at them and see each other.

First time for our dining experience at this five-star establishment. David Skinner has done a remarkable job of weeding in multiple cuisines, cocktails, wines, desserts etc. We came in for the multi-course dining experience and it was absolutely incredible. We will be back to the other restaurants on-site. Keep in mind he has his own winery and distillery on site. David and his team take you through the kitchen, through all of this story of historical prominence of the dishes he prepares. A true gentleman, scholar and awesome chef!

Best bartender I have ever seen. Food was also excellent. Definitely worth checking out.

The presentation of the food was appealing. However I’m not impressed with the flavor of most dishes. The ingredients and taste are too mundane for the price. More importantly, the whole experience took waaayyy too long – more than 10min interval between each dish and more than 5hrs in total?
And the dishes did not contain enough protein – most were soups and sweet stuff that only make you more hungry during the 5hrs. I understand that this is more of an experience but at least you should feed people enough meat and that’s like the basic of a good meal.
The room was cramped and people were sitting shoulder to shoulder. The guy behind me was loud and shouting the whole time.
Would not recommend if you think “well this is expensive so the food must taste amazing.” No it does not. May be ok for social but any bar with a fraction of the cost can do equally well. A huge waste of time.

We had the great opportunity to enjoy a meal at Eculent after having it on the bucket list for several years. This meal will make you think about the importance and weight that can be infused into ONE bite. The creativity and care that is taken from the food to the atmosphere and service are superb. Where the chef has taken inspiration from makes it approachable but flips it on its head. There are so many beautiful examples I could give, but I would hate to give away any of the wonderful surprises that await you! It is a must-do in your lifetime. Cannot wait to go back and to also check out their sister restaurant, the_prsv.

Thoroughly impressed! The most unique dining experience I have ever had. We went for my husband’s birthday and had a wonderful time. The food is epic, indescribable, amazing, we can’t wait to go back! Chef and his staff were friendly, delivered top notch service, and described each dish and wine pairing perfectly. Really one of the coolest things we have done!

Eculent was such a unique taste adventure with each course taking another turn in the journey to the unexpected. The wine pairings were crisp and smooth and blended well with each course. We enjoyed the chef’s take on an ingredient that we have never had prepared in that way before. We were able to experience dishes that seemed normal on a menu but when prepared by Chef Skinner’s sous chef were enhanced with a magical twist. We are excited to experience the new menu in the coming months. Hopefully Chef Skinner will be on site for our next culinary adventure.

Extremely interesting dinner. Very cool dishes but not sure I would go again. 24 bite size courses $350/head plus tip which i think is important to know before you go. Do not go if you are a picky eater this place certainly goes beyond bounds of normal eatery. Some bites are very amazing while a couple were okay, but most were above average and not to my typical taste. I enjoyed the food presented in ways I had never seen and even trying things I normally would not. Chef and staff were excellent, I don’t regret it but put the cost out there so no one else is caught off guard. Oh and the lights change with every meal…all of which are horrible for selfies!
