There’s great Ethiopian music, artifacts for sale, seating in the patio or in the back. Order at the front desk then sit down at a table.
We got the platter for two: 4 choices atop njera. We took her advice on which to order and LOVED it. Plus the honey wine (oh, my gosh, amazing!) and the ginger beer (so fresh and clearly real ginger). We could not be happier with the entire experience.
We ate with our hands (tear the njera and use it to pick up scoops of sauce, food, etc) but there were forks provided just in case. The lentils were our favorite, i loved the mushrooms, the boiled cabbage and carrots were surprisingly great , and the potatoes were very good (we were split in the potatoes). Everything is vegan and delicious.
I recently visited Ebony SLO and was absolutely blown away! This Ethiopian gem offers not just incredible food, but also a delightful dining atmosphere. The interior decor is warm, stylish, and authentic, making you feel like you’ve been transported to another world.
One of the standout features is their beautiful outdoor patio – it’s spacious, thoughtfully arranged, and perfect for enjoying a meal al fresco. Every detail of the presentation, from the table settings to the dishes themselves, was immaculate.
The food was absolutely delicious, with vibrant flavors and generous portions. Each dish felt like it was prepared with care and attention to detail. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the entire experience even more enjoyable.
If you’re looking for a place with great ambiance, top-notch Ethiopian cuisine, and a welcoming vibe, I highly recommend Ebony! It’s a true treasure.
Fantastic wholesome Ethiopian food! Simply wow! The food was absolutely delicious. It’s super healthy and tastes great. Not oily or greasy or salty, just yummy!
We grabbed a 2-person order that came with 2 servings of injera (Ethiopian flatbread) and 3 sides. Spicy lentils, cabbage+carrot, and red beets. Everything tasted great!
They make everything fresh here. The owner and chef are both gluten-free so their whole kitchen and all cooking equipment is entirely gluten-free with zero cross-contamination! Their injera flatbread is made from teff flour with no wheat at all (unlike some other Ethiopian places). Everything is dairy-free as well. So this is really a fantastic place to bring friends with food intolerances!
They just added a nice outdoor seating area which makes it a great spot to stop and enjoy the meal on-site. Definitely going back here! Can’t wait for them to expand their hours.
Update: their brunch on Sundays is super tasty as well! Definitely worth a visit on the weekend.
