Social Profile:

The Sushi Shack is located in the heart of Seminole Heights, Tampa in a converted 1928 bungalow. But don’t be fooled by its modest appearance! The Chef-Owner and her husband (long time gaijin from Japan), set out a few years ago to create a unique sushi restaurant that would combine fresh, delicious dishes in a laid-back izakaya style atmosphere that customers would love, and they haven’t been disappointed! See the Shack’s Facebook page or Yelp to view the overwhelmingly positive reviews this little restaurant has received since opening in August 2016. Whether it be regular favorites like the Orange Sunrise or Volcano Rolls or something unique being offered on the Specials Board, there’s always something delicious waiting for you at Ebisu!

Authentic, fresh and delicious sushi in an intimate and inviting setting! Staff is fantastic and the vibe was perfect for us. We’ve already been twice this month and can’t wait to go back. Thank you team Ebisu!

Food was amazing. It was packed all night and doesn’t have that many tables so it took a while to have orders taken and get food, but the employees were all nice and accommodating. It’s super cute and kitchy inside, we especially enjoyed the tiny old TV playing lone ranger – I haven’t seen a TV like that in decades! We especially enjoyed the tuna appetizer and sake sangria.

I’ve been going here for at least 3 years and we’ve consistently had great service and the best sushi and sashimi, not to mention great takoyaki and crab rangoon (best I’ve ever had). Great specials, too. My adult grandson loves the Jabba the Hut roll – gets it every time. We try to make it there once a month. The owner is a wonderful Japanese woman who knows her stuff!

The Florida Roll is one of the best rolls I’ve ever had, and the combination with tempura is spectacular. The octopus carpaccio is good, but it’s not my favorite. The service is great — Néstor is very friendly and pleasant, and the place is very cozy

This place is teeny tiny and that’s honestly one of the reasons I wanted to try it! Something so small has to be good right?! So my wife and I went on a random Thursday and it was surprisingly busy. There were plenty of tables available outside but 1. it was very hot and humid, 2. I was not trying to be a mosquitos meal while I eat my meal, and 3. based on the reviews with service being touch and go, we didn’t want to be out of sight, out of mind. So we happily waited for our table inside. Lots of people came in and either decided to go somewhere else or to eat outside but we kept waiting. A 4 top came available first but they asked us to wait a minute or 2 more for a 2 top which made sense to us because it was busy. This was all fine until the 4 top next to us that had just arrived got exponentially better service than us and had their food ordered and served before we even got our appetizers ordered. Our waitress forgot about us, which, honestly, was expected based on the reviews. Once we finally got our food, it was really delicious! The orange sunrise roll was so beautifully bright with citrus, the seaweed salad was so yummy, and the nigiri was bangin. Our waitress did apologize a couple times for the wait and forgetting about us so we are very thankful for that. We will come back! It was still great food! Maybe next time we’ll try to get in at the bar.

The pricing was also really great, btw. I’ve seen a couple reviews that it’s overpriced which I find crazy. We easily would have spent double for the same quality at any other sushi place downtown, in South Tampa, or Hyde Park.

The atmosphere was chill, staff were friendly and quick. The fried calamari was so well done and delicious I caught a tear on the corner of my eye. The Takoyaki were tiny balls of bliss. The Sushi was sublime. Fantastic place to eat. Definitely bringing the ol’ ball and chain.

Amazing sushi, wonderful service, and the appetizer was absolutely delicious. So much flavor, and the sushi was very fresh. Wasabi was extra spicy, the volcano roll was my favorite. The fish on top was so yummy. All the flavors were fantastic. Very wonderful small spot with beautiful sushi rolls.
