Nice restaurant with high quality menu items. Four of dined there and each of us had a different seafood entree prepared differently. There are many choices on the menu and I would suggest for our size party we may have enjoyed sharing some of the small plates more than the entrees we ordered, which were quite pricey and overated from the suggestions we were given. But ovetall the service was excellent.

Enjoyed a special occasion brunch. Lots of choices on menu to accommodate tastes and liked that we were in semi private area. We had a large party and service was great. Especially enjoyed the chicken spring rolls, and BBQ ribs, fried chicken and waffle and halo halo was a rainbow of delicious dessert.

Yes please, more of these delicious, fresh and good food. An early Sunday brunch for us here, we didn’t need a reservation, and got seated right away. Our waiters were friendly and respectful. Nothing beats a smiley faces from strangers. Anyway, our food was excellent from appetizer to the main course, hot and delicious. Complement to the chef. We will definitely comeback and try other dishes.

I can confidently say this is my absolute favorite restaurant! On my last visit, I ordered the Build Your Own Local Catch Dish with Yellowtail Amberjack and pancit — every bite was perfection. The fish was fresh, perfectly cooked, and paired beautifully with the flavorful pancit. The balance of textures and flavors was so spot-on it made me slow down just to savor it.

Of course, no visit here is complete without dessert, and I always get the chocolate soufflé. It’s rich, airy, and decadent — the kind of dessert that makes you pause, close your eyes, and just appreciate life for a moment.

From the impeccable food to the warm, inviting atmosphere, this place never disappoints. If I could give it more than five stars, I would!

As an appetizer, we shared their chicken spring rolls. The best I’ve had!
For the main, I had the grilled swordfish served on risotto. Now, I’m not a big risotto fan, but this risotto was excellent – just the right balance of firmness and bite.
Finally, the staff were attentive and friendly.

The service was awesome, from the hostess to the waiter to the manager who stopped by our table and the wait staff . . . Everything was perfect. The food was very delicious. I would recommend a trip to Waikiki (International Marketplace) and try it for yourself. Parking is validated.

Place is vibrant and has pastries ready to buy if you want to grab something and go. Prices a very fair especially because of location. Place was very clean bright light and shiny walls and glass. Super clean and our server was cool the busser Diego was very helpful throughout the night definitely can be a server. Paella seafood is what I ordered. Real strong with tomato flavor and not much more flavor than that. Coconut creme brulee was decent. The upside down pineapple was the best thing I had from all the entress, appetizers and desserts.

Three dinners in eight days – which is to say we loved Eating House 1849. First visit was for happy hour at the bar. Great deal for food and drink and we had the good fortune to have Jarel and Emma behind the bar who served me the best Mai Tai I had over our two-week visit. Second visit was for Valentine’s Day where we each enjoyed the Kampachi but with different preparations. Jay was also an excellent server that night as was his assistant. Our third visit this trip was because we so enjoyed Emma and Jarel on our first stop. That last visit was enhanced by the live music provided by Randy Allen. Emma and Jarel both remembered us from a week earlier and could not have been more welcoming. Our happy hour meals were pretty much the same each visit and we give high recommendations for the Spring Rolls, Chicken Skewers, BBQ Baby Back Ribs and, of course, for the Melting Hot Chocolate Soufflé (not a happy hour item but who cares!). We will definitely be back the next time we visit Hawaii!

Let me start with a confession:
I’m not a big kale fan. I’ve on occasions, dutifully gnawed through it post-gym while questioning both my life choices and the meaning of joy. But my brother loves kale and asked if I would share a kale salad, with him. After a couple glasses of wine, I’m pretty agreeable to most things except giving up wine.

Then snap… that was like not just one of the best kale salads I’ve ever had but one of the tastiest salads ever! The kale itself was moist, tender yet firm and didn’t have the usual cardboard flavor and texture. The papaya seed dressing was bright and tangy, but the real star was the crispy garlic chips — earthy, toasty flavor bombs that added a wonderful crunchy texture to the salad.

The oysters from Washington were plump and meaty, with that briny ocean essence followed by a milky, rich finish. They came with a couple of side sauces but I’m a purist when it comes to oysters. Just give me a lemon wedge and a dash of tobacco.

The Kampachi Crudo- Thin, silky slices of fish, cut to a nice thickness that gave a wonderful chew, with a hint of citrus and a light touch of truffle yaki. It was fresh and refreshing , clean, and flavorful — simple but memorable. Love it when a chef resists the urge to smother the dish — just some tasty support and let the fish do the rest.

For the main, we shared the butterfish kamameshi. The fish was slightly overcooked — a little firmer and dryer than I’d prefer — but the flavor was there. The seasoned furikake rice underneath almost stole the spotlight. Layered with flavors and cooked perfectly . The vegetables including daikon added texture, and those crispy bits of rice at the bottom of the cast iron pot? Total food gold.

The Service :

My brother and I sat at the bar — always my first choice, and after more than a decade behind one, still where I feel most at home. The service is faster , the energy more dialed up . At the bar, the world comes at you with the good, the bad, and the downright messy. You learn to duck and weave, toast and cheer, and take it all in–one slurp of wine at a time. It’s like having a seat at the chef’s table, but instead of watching tweezers and foam, you hear the shaking of martinis and the stirring of spirits. And even now, from the other side of the rail, it still feels like the best seat in the house for me. And don’t get me started about the people watching.

Huge shoutout to Sasha, our bartender for the night. She was handling drinks for the entire dining room, yet still made us feel like honored guests in her little corner of the chaos. Always checking in on us with a warm smile. It resuscitated old muscle memory from my own nights in the trenches. Respect Sasha!!

The Atmosphere:

Beautiful and comfortable interior with a laid back elegance. A blend of modern and Hawai’i plantation. Elegant enough for a date night yet casual enough for shorts and slippers. A guitar player with a Fender Strat skillfully filled the empty spaces between conversations .

Will definitely be back!
Happy Eating!!

My husband and I hosted our rehearsal dinner the night prior to our wedding at Eating House in the front patio area. About half of our guests are local and the rest from the mainland, but everyone agreed that the food was delicious! The EH staff were incredible, efficient, accommodating, and I was pleasantly surprised by the large number of staff supporting our dinner. We had many specific requests prior to the event, including custom drink menus, foods to accommodate dietary restrictions, drink tickets distribution, seating configuration changes, etc., and they executed everything perfectly. We were so pleased with the event and highly recommend for anyone looking to host an event or just have lunch/dinner!
