Been coming here for years since it’s closer to where I am because sometimes you don’t want to drive across town for dim sum. It’s not the best but I’ll take it for what it is. The dim sum I’ll still give it a 4/5. Walked in right as they opened so we got the top notch customer service, food came out hot and fast, water was refilled regularly, plates cleaned up as we finished. My only knock was the chicken feet seemed off that day. Normally it’s spot on but that day it seems different like maybe they changed supplies or something which gave it a different texture. The decor is like the outside inside vibe with the pillars and roof shingles. I will continue to come here as long as they’re the best in the area.

1st time the abalone sea cucumber $68 was good, but too expensive. The eggplant soft tofu and seafood udon were good too.
2nd time, eggplant solf tofu lost the sichuan pepper flavor and seafood udon lacked scallop and sha cha sauce.

First of all I have to say their service is the best. The first 5 mins we couldn’t process what to order. The people here are so nice, they had fresh and piping hot dim sum on a tray and we got to choose what we like. The lady also patiently explained what is what and we also got hot green tea as complementary. We at different types of dumplings both shrimp and pork. It was amazing and moorish. The dumpling was soft and the meat was fresh. Additionally we got house special mixed fried rice and house special mixed thin noodle chow mein. Both the dishes were flavorful and yummy. The portion size was also good for two people. Overall I had an amazing experience and I look forward to coming back soon.

East Lake has been a long time staple for me in San Jose. Located on Quimby and White road, it’s a seafood Chinese restaurant located right between east side San Jose and Evergreen.

I’ve been coming here since 2014. The lunch special is where I was first introduced to this place. Over the years it has evolved! From being a super small hole in a wall to becoming a bigger, celebratory restaurant.

My favorite dish is the salt and pepper fish. Everything taste super good here tho! When I need a quick Chinese food fix, I can always count on East lake!

We ordered:
– wonton soup
– walnut shrimp
– fried whole fish
– salt and pepper fish
– chicken fried rice
– house chow mein
– Mongolian beef
– warm sweet red bean soup

They happily refill water when you eat inside.
Love this place! See you again soon!

This used to be the go to spot for us but it has seen better days. My family has been eating in and getting takeout for as long as I can remember. Eastlake has been a neighborhood staple for a long time now and while the quality has taken a dip, the value hasn’t, still coming in at a reasonable price. We ordered takeout and that process has always been smooth. From ordering to arriving and picking up we had zero issues at all.

Once we were back and had a chance to chow down, we remembered why things have changed. The chow fun we had was a bit oily, the bbq spare ribs a little tough, and the beef and broccoli was just ehh. The food is by no means bad, it really isn’t, but we wouldn’t say it’s up to par with more solid restaurants, especially in a Chinese food heavy city. For the price though, it’s very reasonable as an average run of the mill takeout option. This will definitely stay in our quick and cheap Chinese food playbook, but wouldn’t be a go when looking for a more premium place.

I was on the way to a different place and found dimsum! The rice rolls stood out the most and the onion pancake! Loved the shrimp and eggplant, tripe and the chicken feet!

I’ve been to many different Chinese restaurants that leaned more towards authenticity, restaurants that catered more towards the American taste buds, restaurants that leaned towards fast food industry, and I’ve tried restaurants that were mediocre. East Lake was mediocre. Firstly, the food did not taste fresh. The seafood in their soups or their fried tofu, I can taste it’s bought frozen, not from a fresh seafood market. It’s very dissapoiting. As an Asian customer, we love seafood and we know what is fresh or not. I like some of the Chinese restaurants mentioning the catch of the day and East Lake is not one of those. Might as well eat at Panda Express or PF Cheng.

There aren’t that many Cantonese cuisine restaurants in this part of the Bay Area, and this is one that we come to from time to time. The food is usually pretty okay, and the price is fairly reasonable. And you would get complimentary dessert too.
