So, did the East Coast Eats restaurant in Warrenton go belly up?
Reviews
From the moment we stepped inside the newly clean, renovated space, the experience was great. From being greeted with a warm, sweet smile, to the attentive service, to the tasty/huge portions of food, until the moment we walked out, and were bid a nice farewell, we enjoyed our experience.
The menu is good; not too big, but just big enough to make you ponder on your selection.
I got the Pittsburg Stacker with shaved beef, which was HUGE. You have a choice of meats to choose from, stacked between two slices of yummy bread with coleslaw, cheese, and fries. I ended up taking half home, and ate it for lunch the next day. It was very filling!
My husband got a burger and enjoyed it immensely. Real, homemade burger pattie. Not some packaged Costco prefab burger. The fries were crispy and tasty. The pirogies were definitely drenched in a lot of butter, but they were tasty and tender. I’m used to a more browned pierogi, but a small side of these were fine. I’m not sure I’d order the larger portion. The sautéed onions that accompanied the pirogies tasted good on my sandwich, so they didn’t go to waste!
What impressed us most was the owner came out to thank us and check if we enjoyed our food. That’s definitely an authentically east coast thing to do.
We will be back. I’m looking forward to trying a pizza and calzone.
1/2 Grown Up tomato soup was eh. The customer service was a 5/5 when I called with questions. I was concerned about the sourness of the tomato soup and the wait staff, owner, and cook all tried it and assured me it was fine and their soup is usually sour yet sweet. Its “zing” is not to my liking personally, it was too sour.
Everything else like the loaded fries and pickle was AMAZING. The pickle tasted so refreshing with it’s crunch. Loaded fries was dense with cheese. It’s always fun to find favorites at restaurants I have never tried before.
Sandwich was advertised as 12 inch, it was 8. Was supposed to have several types of meat in it, it had almost a half inches thick stack of ham, and one layer of whats i assume was pepperoni. There was a single slice of american cheese, which wasnt bad. Then there was a large, and i do mean large, pile of shredded iceburg lettuce.
Which had been heated with the sandwich, robbing the lettuce of its only redeemable factor, the crunch. The peppercinni slices were perfect, not too thick, not too thin.
Another frustrating factor was the fact that the whole sandwich was heated with the lettuce on its, so when it sweat, the sandwich became soggy.
The italian dressing however was amazing. Don’t get me whron, i wish there was any other flavor to the sandwich then italian dressing but it was a soggy hoagie style hot dog bun with a brick of ham and italian dressing.
This was all that came with my 20$ + meal.
I am very dissatisfied with it.
Alternatively
My friend got the Philly sandwich, it looked, smelled, and apparently tasted amazing. It was just over a foot long and you could tell was carefully made.
Calzone was massive, and well seasoned, although the red sauce was heavy on the tomatoe paste, and light on seasonings resulting in a super thick, sweet sauce.
The staff here was amazing, and very friendly, but as i can only fully comment on the food that i got, i gotta say that this was probably the worst italian sandwich ive eaten since subway.
Update:
So been a while since i last stopped her, and i went back.
This trip i had the calzone, and fries.
The depth of flavor this go round was amazing, with the ingredients, the cooking, the sauces.
The sauces that i got this go round were a meal unto themselves, i cannot express the difference in my last trip versus this one.
Please, if you get a chance, stop by and get something, try anything.
We will definitely return.
Gave East Coast Eats a try since we drive by it everyday. Was not disappointed. Food is very flavorful, and the portions are really impressive. Tom the owner and our chef is a great and friendly guy…came out to our table and chatted with us like we were old friends. Told us all about the food and where it came from…you could tell he is very passionate about what he does. Matt our waiter was friendly and laid back, and very attentive…again…it was like we had known each other for years. The only criticism I could say about the place is that it could use a little more atmosphere. Perhaps some artwork on the walls emphasizing East Coast life/culture, or others things that again makes you feel like you’re back east, but that’s it. This place is great, and will definitely be going back. Take a drive to Warrenton and give East Coast Eats a try!
