Dylan’s Oyster Cellar

  4.7 – 502 reviews  $$ • Oyster bar restaurant

Social Profile:

Voted Baltimore’s Best Neighborhood Restaurant by Baltimore Magazine, August 2018. Dylan’s earned its initial buzz as a subterranean pop-up in Mt. Vernon, but the charming seafood bistro has found its footing, and sweet spot, on a street-level corner in Hampden. In less than two short years, it has become a local haunt, blending its Belle Époque ambiance with an elevated mid-20th-century menu—addictive coddies, delectable rainbow trout—into a one-of-a-kind evening. Come for the oysters, hailing from coast to coast, but stay for the magical timelessness of it all.

Rustic bar/restaurant specializing in oysters & other seasonal seafood, plus gin & whiskeys.

First time here on a Saturday night. Great atmosphere and energy inside. Very good service. Coddies were impressive. NE Clam Chowder very fresh with a unexpected spice kick to it. Rainbow trout was fantastic. The standout was the cheeseburger & super crispy fries. Dylan was very welcoming & has this ship sailing smoothly!

Always love everything here. Perfectly shucked oysters, an excellent burger, well balanced drinks, tasty dessert, and an awesome vibe. One of Baltimore’s best spots for sure

Quite enjoyable experience! Love to take myself out to eat and new to the city so stopped by. Intimate level lighting with good array of table sizes. Cute bar and pretty booths. Ordered Anchovy starter which was a nice salty punch on soft French bread. The salad was very green and standard. Dressing was fresh! Not a standout but would get again. Had the fried sea bream and it was so delicious. Enjoyed the flavor of the sauce and really noticiable bones so easy to pick out. Nice to know they have no freezers and change the selection up. Rhubarb crumb cake was very tasty but think the rhubarb compote/sauce (?) needs a little more acidity to help with the neutrality of the cake. Enjoyed my gin martini as well!

We visited Dylan’s Oyster Cellar this evening after being at the Brew at the Zoo event here in Baltimore. We are ‘out of towners’ and this place came up when we were in search of a place for raw oysters. Let me tell you, this place did NOT disappoint. We had zero wait, the place was extremely clean, the staff were super personable and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious. 10/10 would absolutely recommend! Don’t worry guys we will be back for sure 🙂

Cozy romantic place for date night! Food was really good as well!! But I wish they had a few basic sides like pasta/rice to go with their entree size dishes (bread was really meh and was $2). They only have 2 (relatively spacious) booths so if you want to sit there make sure to ask when you make the reservation.

I would give Dylan’s more stars if I could! The food was AMAZING and the drinks were great as well. I had the scallop sandwich and my boyfriend had the burger. We both were pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food was. We also shared a dozen of fresh oysters. Will definitely be coming back!!!

Oysters were good but the entrees were lacking. An $18 Oyster Sandwich on Texas Toast and a bag of chips?? Not what we expected! The fish and potatoes were good but the beans were stale. Oh, and what happened to the kale salad? This place is not what it once was. Our server was great, but the food was disappointing; we won’t be coming back.

A small but amazing place. Oysters are the star, but the other dishes are great. Mussels are amazing consistently, and the burger is also a stand-out. Cocktails are serviceable, the beer on tap is good (try the Positive Mental Attitude). Can be noisy at peak, and get there early or the oysters may be all gone.

Sat at a high table and ordered a couple drinks which were good. Forgot to take a picture. We went right when they opened on a Friday so no wait. The staff was very friendly. We started with oysters and potato skins. I loved the oysters. The potato skins were cooked well. I got the burger after hearing how great it was. It was a pretty good smash burger. It’s simple and you can get ketchup, mustard, and Mayo on the side. I think the fish was cooked well.

The best! People, food drinks, vibe. It’s easygoing and casual…but the food is really incredible. (Love that combo!) The kale salad or all kale salads. Fresh and ever changing selection of oysters. The burger, oyster stew, potato skins…all stellar. Even if you are not into oysters, you will love Dylan’s.
