Had Sunday lunch here. Had read such great reviews. This is cafeteria style and reminded me of elementary school. There were no prices posted anywhere. Choices were not all that appealing. I chose the turkey dinner. I got 2 ice cream scoops of mushy “stuffing” and watched the lunch lady literally sprinkle what was about half a cup of dry looking FINELY shredded turkey over top of it. Then the gravy went on top. I honestly was already regretting coming here after just looking at the food in the line up. Then I picked my ” 2 sides”. Mashed potatoes that were very runny and made from those dry, boxed flakes, for sure. Then the green beans, just typical canned green beans cooked to death. But at least they tasted okay. 15.99 for this! Small servings and it was not hot. I did get a T of cranberry in a plastic cup that was okay. I can say, this was the worst meal I’ve had about anywhere. Completely tasteless. No one ever came to ask to refill my drink or even ask about the food. I left without eating even half. It was that bad. I honestly think some places must pay or ask friends and family to give 5 star reviews of their food, because there is NO way on earth this is 5 star food. Not even 2 star food. I read reviews on places before I go and while this is not the first time I’ve been disappointed in a place based on reviews, I am seriously questioning anyone giving 5 stars here. But to each their own. I would never go back here and wish I had followed my first instinct to leave when I looked at the food in line!
Caveat emptor. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

If I could give more stars I would. A true Southern meat and three that makes you feel like you are at Nanny’s house for supper. The food was great, price point fair, and the service is truly exceptional. My daughter and I were treated like legitimate family members.

This is the gem of Pendleton, hands down.

First time ever eating here. Stopped in while selling Metal Roofing and Siding for Green Tree Metals. The food was absolutely amazing the price was perfect and atmosphere was so amazing! Definitely recommend you stop in and give this place a try while in the area for lunch!

This is a great place . Food was very good. I got the salmon patties. Very good. The meat loaf is excellent. I had that earlier in the week. Mac and cheese is spot on. Ok ok I saved the best for last . The peach cobbler is the best I have ever eat. Hands down!!! If you are in this area. It is a must have . Please help me Jesus if I eat here much I’ll be 500 lbs.

We swung by Dyar’s Diner last night after my son’s T-ball game to grab some supper—and let me tell you, the bird dogs were on point.

This isn’t your average bird dog with a basic chicken strip and a slice of cheese. Nope—they chop up the chicken, mix in crispy bacon, sprinkle it with cheese, and top it off with honey mustard. Pure flavor.

If you’re a bird dog fan, you have to stop by and try theirs. They’re available on Dyar’s new Thursday and Friday night dinner menu—and trust me, it’s worth the trip.

We drove from Walhalla after church. We arrived just in time for the doors to be opened.

Dyar’s is what I would call a meat and three. They had a great selection of meats and sides to choose from, as well as deserts.

All of the staff was so friendly and the service was excellent.

I had chicken livers. Oh my, they were good. I also had mac n cheese, broccoli rice and cheese casserole, and slaw. I topped it off with some strawberry cake. My lunch was awesome.

My wife got the baked chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes, and strawberry cake. She said it was very good.

My only thing, and it isn’t a complaint, is that it costs $40, plus the tip. We both did have tea to drink. So, it just costs more to eat anywhere these days.

It was really good food, though.

Lukewarm, tasteless cafeteria type food. Small servings and no prices listed. Soda machine sign said “soda $1 extra”…but after we paid, lady said all drinks are included. Maybe thats just on Sunday??
Two of us ,Meat and 2 sides was $30! PLUS an extra $1 for “premium meat” choice which was not listed or explained on menu board. Why no prices listed anywhere?? Nothing is explained or posted for patrons. We had the ” chicken parmesan”, which was a VERY small, thin pounded piece of chicken breast with some tasteless, dried out breadcrumbs on top. I figured it would at least have parmesan cheese in it but tasted NONE. Just dry crumbs with no seasoning to it and chicken was overcooked and pretty dry. The “country steak” was a breaded patty the diameter of a McDonalds cheeseburger and about 1/2 ” thick. They drowned it in a white, watery gravy with just a flour flavor. The breading on meat had no flavor either. Just weird! Mashed potatoes tasted like instant and had the texture and tastelessness of them as well. The quality and taste of the food was NOT on par with what is charged here at all. The coup de gras was the food not even being hot. Lukewarm at best.
I’m not trying to be rude, but this was seriously sub par food for $33! I especially dislike there being NO posted prices or explanation of what selections may have an upcharge. The only one listed on meny board was chicken livers “$1 extra”. Just post the prices for the meat and 3 and all…why not?? Online there is a menu that states prices, but we were charged more. If the food had been really good, home cooking it would have been different. But this is school cafeteria grade food. Sorry to say all of this, I do not like leaving a negative review… but I have to be totally honest here. And it was really bad food. We really had high hopes and expected much better after reading all the 5 star reviews here.
I don’t write reviews based on feelings or community loyalty, friendships, etc…I pride myself on leaving HONEST reviews so people don’t waste their money and leave very disappointed, as we did.
UPDATE: No one came by our table to ask us if everything was alright. Maybe because v we were at the very back, by the Christmas decorations waiting to be put up? So, no, we didn’t get to talk to anyone. Not sure what they could’ve done about the taste of the food anyways. And we sat and talked for quite a bit and our trays and dishes sat in front of all of us, no one ever came to get them.
To say that my review of your food is bad due to ME “having a bad day” is ludicrous. Maybe YOU all just had a bad day in the kitchen and this was not up to the quality your normally serve?? It happens. Like I stated, I am being HONEST here, not ugly.
It was terrible, plain and simple. I’m sorry you don’t believe it but we were not the only ones in our party that were disappointed. We walked in anticipating GREAT food after looking at the reviews. We were shocked it was so bad, honestly. And bummed, because we wasted our hard earned money.
We paid AND we tipped! Everyone we encountered in ordering/paying was nice. The issue was the FOOD! Maybe LISTEN to customers and taste it for yourself instead of getting defensive and blaming/insulting them?! customer

After reading reviews and researching some info, we decided to try lunch at 11am on Sunday.
Husband and I both got the same items. Meat and 2 sides ($6.99 each) plus $1.00 each upcharge for premium white chicken meat selection and $4.99 each for cobbler. $32 tax, tip & total.
The food temperature was luke warm at best. Rather bland in flavor. The Mac n cheese had chunks of what looked like cottage cheese, not creamy and the best part is usually the burnt cheese on top and was hardly eatible. The broccoli cheese rice casserole was bland, runny with overcooked rice with barely melted cheddar cheese.
The $5 peach cobbler was served in a sundae cup made with canned peaches and the filling was runny making the cobbler doughy.
The restaurant was clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Apparently, we are apart of the few and not the many who feel this is a 4 star + restaurant.

Delicious home cooking and very friendly staff. Just pricey. We spent $75 for our family of four (2 adults & 2 teens) to eat. Would be helpful to have prices posted at the beginning of the line.

The best fried chicken in the upstate of SC. Outstanding staff and service. Family owned and operated. Can’t recommend Dyar’s enough. Grab a tray, pick your meat, 3 sides and a dessert. Get some ice in a glass and pour a Pepsi or a sweet tea. Then let the good eating commence. Run don’t walk. This place is legit and worth every minute you have to wait if there is a line. Thank me later.
