Foodie and budding critic in the making:

I will continue to follow and review this establishment till there’s improvement.

2/18 approximately 1pm.

Ever seen a tough plantain stub? Well here’s one for you. Came with a large fried chicken. Here’s the small bumps of cowfoot from a large. Rice full of many lumps. What does that mean? Not freshly made.

I followed the hype of how good this establishment is. Did not live up to expectations!

Tariffs have hit everyone. While placing my order, I inquired if the sold meats by the pound. Answer was yes. I asked for half pound of stew peas. Price of this small stewpeas by half a pound is almost $10! By the way, it weighed 5ozs. I actually weighed it. I.did.not see the server weigh it. Maybe the scale.need calibration. Food by the pound is.supposed to be weighed. That’s completely unacceptable. If it was weighed, fix your scale. And, thank you Lord for making bountiful peas, lots of peas. Lots of fat.

Small.soup was just a mini. 1 spinner and.l.tiny piece of meat. Maybe the server was having a stingy day?? Firs time I’ve had bad plantains; tough and obviously not ripe.

Brown stew chicken is ALL CHICKEN BACK!

Picture #1 is only miniscule piece of meat
Picture #2 stew peas chunks of fat and that’s not all of it
Picture #3 sreew peas drowned out by peas
Picture #4 peas galore
Picture #5 fat galore
Picture 6 is chi Ken back

SHAME ON YOU. IF JAMAICANS WOULD JUST DEMAND THE QUAILTY WE KNEW BACK HOME. WAIT, MAYBE MOST SUPPORTERS ARE BORN HERE AND DONT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE. WHEN DID EVERY RESTAURANT START DROWING ANY AND ALL MEAT IN BROWNING?

“Yes, restaurants selling food by the pound must accurately weigh it using certified scales to comply with weights and measures laws, ensuring customers pay only for the food, not packaging (tare weight), with scales often verified by stamps or seals for accuracy, especially for items like BBQ, seafood, or bulk items. Regulations require scales to be suitable for the product and often mandate displaying weight in metric units (grams/kilos) alongside imperial (lbs/oz).

Since Dutch Pot opened their Lauderdale Lakes location five years ago, it has grown into a popular eatery, especially known for its takeaway service. Over the past few months, I’ve sampled my favorite Jamaican dish—Curry Chicken with rice and peas—at various Jamaican restaurants. I can confidently say that today’s meal ranks among the best I’ve had. For a very reasonable $6.69, I enjoyed a medium portion that came with spinner dumplings, plantain, and salad. Parking was easy to find, and the staff were polite and professional throughout. Overall, a fantastic experience!

I haven’t eaten here in a long time and mostly order breakfast or soups. Tonight, my son wanted oxtail and I ordered jerk pork. Neither had flavor and both tasted the same. I can differentiate oxtail gravy which I asked for over the rice for both orders and the rice and peas was probably the best on my plate. The plantains were good. The meat was not stewed long enough. Gravy hadn’t thicken and flavors weren’t there at all. Very disappointed after spending $36 for something i couldn’t enjoy. The jerk pork was mostly fatty parts which I do not enjoy. I couldn’t taste the spice until whatever that was in the little container I tried and that was horrible. I’m not even sure what that was.

UPDATE- I recently visited again . I got the same lady that’s serving the food .This woman is still here in the front , with the attitude nothing has changed. I finally got her picture. Next time I come back I’m going to ask her what is her problem.

Initial Review
I love this place but the woman that was serving the food the one that says Good afternoon very loud is extremely rude. She talk to my husband and I with an attitude because I was asking question about the prices. She seems very annoyed with everyone . We thought it was just us, but It wasn’t just us every person she serves gave an attitude. Why is she serving ? She needs to be in the back sweeping or washing dishes away from customers .

The oxtails were tender and seasoned very good with perfect amount of spice! The curry goat was meaty and flavorful. The curry goat and white rice was lukewarm in temperature but the oxtails and rice and peas were nice and hot in temperature. They also did not have steamed cabbage and plantains at 10:10pm when they close at 11. Those are the only reasons I did not give 5 stars but the food is definitely worth coming back for!

The Dutch Pot restaurant serves up a variety of Jamaica cuisine that is absolutely delicious! Although I mostly purchase take-out, you can dine-in fast food style as well.

1. Affordability: It is a bit on the pricey/expensive side; however, their value meals are reasonably priced and portioned.

2. Access: The establishment offers dine-in, take-out, and drive through options for customers. The drive through has improved service in regards to ordering and wait time.

You can’t ask for more this place is satisfying all the way around. Although they normally have long lines through the drive-thru because of the affordable prices. The professional and move very quickly.

The need to be more organized I stand in line for 33 minutes before I could get service they are working the employees like animals they have one person doing multiple tasks at the same time one person cashing out sharing food doing online orders it is ridiculous if you’re in a rush I wouldn’t suggest stopping there the staff is great but they need to be more organized and more people to work

I just left your store at 2484 N State Road 7 on Sunday November 30 at 8:30am. The Store was empty and three employees stood at the counter discussing what they will be wearing for a party. I stood there for three minutes waiting for one to acknowledge me or take my order. I could not waited any longer so i said excuse me ladies who is working the counter? When I said that, one made a rude comment that nobody disturbing her peace! You are at work though?!! I did not go there to beg only to spend money. To say they lack basic customer service is and understatement. So rude, unprofessional and lack customer service.
