Located inside a sleek boutique hotel, Durango Cocina hits you immediately with a high “cool factor.” The decor is effortlessly trendy, striking a perfect balance between high-end chic and welcoming warmth.

The service was, quite frankly, impeccable. Every staff member we encountered had a genuine smile and a level of attentiveness that made the entire Valentine’s evening feel comfortable and upbeat. Victoria our waitress always came to check on us and made sure we are doing well.

We opted for the Valentine’s Prix Fixe Menu, which offered a choice of two starters, two entrées, and two desserts. Most of the dishes were vibrant and delicious—a modern, refreshing take on Mexican roots that truly surprised us.

However, I have to be firm on one major point: the “12 oz Ribeye” meant for two. As someone who knows a good cut, this was not a steak. It was paper-thin—more like a slice of beef brisket you’d find at a casual diner than a premium ribeye. I seriously doubt it hit the 12 oz mark, and for a Valentine’s centerpiece, it was a bit of a letdown in terms of substance, even if the flavor was excellent.

A word to the wise: The parking situation is a hurdle. The lot right outside is entirely claimed by valet. If you don’t want to use it, you’ll be hunting for a spot in the residential blocks down the street. It’s a bit of an inconvenience for a romantic night out.

Despite the “paper-thin” steak and the parking puzzle, we had a very enjoyable evening. If you are in the area, I definitely recommend checking it out for the inventive flavors and the stellar atmosphere.

Pros: * Trendy, beautiful atmosphere
• Friendly, attentive staff
• Creative and delicious modern Mexican cuisine

Cons: * Inconvenient parking (unless using valet)
• “Steak” portion was underwhelmingly thin

If you’re in the mood for a nice night out — good food, creative cocktails, a rooftop view, and want something nicer than your average Mexican joint — Durango Cocina & Rooftop is worth it. It’s not cheap, but the experience (ambience + food + service) tends to make up for it. I had the tuna and it was amazing, super fresh and full of flavor.

If I were you, I’d go there when I want to treat myself or meet friends for something more special. If you want cheaper eats or a quick bite, maybe another place would do.

Beautiful restaurant! They did a great job with the design. I had the fish tacos with black beans and rice. They were delicious! I had some drinks on the rooftop and the view of the mountains was beautiful. I also had peach margaritas and those were great. So glad Rancho finally is stepping up with a rooftop in the city.

⭐️ 1/5 – Not Worth It

Ambience was okay and the food presentation looked decent, but that’s where the positives end. The dishes tasted terrible — honestly like something you’d pick up pre-made from Northgate or Vallarta. To make it worse, the food came out cold, which is unacceptable at the prices they’re charging.

Overall, it was a huge disappointment. Not recommended. Avoid!

Durango Cocina & Rooftop! Located on the top of the Sanctity Hotel in Rancho Cucamonga, this spot offers breathtaking views of the San Gabriel Mountains and a vibrant atmosphere that’s perfect for any occasion.

Tlayudas was bomb! A traditional Mexican dish that didn’t disappoint! Crunchy tortillas topped with beans, cheese, and savory meats.

Dry-aged ribeye cooked to perfection, served with guajillo potato purée, roasted vegetables, and chipotle demi-glace.
Fresh and delicious, blended with grilled onion, cilantro, and serrano, served with crispy house-made tostadas.
Drinks were good!
From classic margaritas and palomas to unique creations featuring mezcal and sotol, every sip is a delight.
Enjoy stunning views of Rancho Cucamonga and the surrounding mountains while savoring your meal or drinks.
Cozy up by the fire pits or relax in the serpentine seating areas with a drink in hand.

Our server was friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed.

We enjoyed a couple of cocktails and appetizers on the rooftop before heading dow to the restaurant.

The rooftop service was fantastic! Sadly, the restaurant service was a bit slow, and it took a while to get our drinks and food. I’m guessing the delay was due to an unexpectedly large group of people on a Wednesday night, and only having two servers for the restaurant.

Both the food and cocktails were delicious. I’ll be back

Excellent service and atmosphere. Michelle and Savannah serviced amazing drinks and the presentation was decadent. The drinks kept coming and the manager Chris was ensuring all the vibes were up. Best place for a sippy sippy and yap yap seshes. 10/10

Went and order the Cecina Tacos, keep in mind it’s Sunday morning so you would think they would have stocked up for the weekend. Place my order Taylor was very nice but after the wife and I placed our order she comes back a couple of minutes later to tell me that they don’t have cecina it’s like a Mexican thin steak , so have to start from square one, decide to get now the Del Rancho Omelet, the wife’s order comes out first, have to wait on mine now cuz of the No Stock, finally get my order a couple of bites in I notice it’s missing something some I open the Omelette and sure was No Poblano Peppers and the Key thing was missing the Chicharrones. I let Taylor know and she goes check in the kitchen and they let her know that they were out of stock if they also by now im frustrated. So I just end up eating my omelette of Frijoles de Olla with Cheese, what can I do now. My wife by now is almost done with her meal and by the time I find something else and they make it, it would have been lunch time ( sacarstic jk ) Taylor tells me that the manager was gonna pay for my meal, the least he could have done. He came out and apologize telling that he heard that their were multiple times I tried to order but weren’t available. I just told him that they should have better communication the kitchen and the servers, if they know they are out of somethings they should notify the servers, cuz that made Taylor look bad even though it’s not her fault for the lack of communication, so I feel for her. The Food looked Amazing, mine was ok even though it was missing half of the items, Bet it would have be great if it was done right or they had their items in stock for their customers. The Manager Chris I believe that was whis name was nice but I think I got on his nerves, but I was frustrated with my experience. Keep in mind it’s my first time their and most likely the last time, he could have maybe offered a rain check for the Cecina Tacos on the house next time I go over or even a free drink, I know about customer service I worked in a similar industry for 15yrs +. FYI if u go asked if they have what u want instock to save u a headache.

The rooftop lounge is a cool place to hang out and catch the sunset. Overall the rooftop and restaurant on the ground floor have some bugs to work out since they are fairly new. All the contact we had with service was good. The food could be better. I found it to be bland. From their description on the website I was hoping for the food to be more traditional and flavorable. Mostly a tequila bar. So if you’re a tequila lover, try it. Music was too loud making hard to have a conversation with the person sitting with you. The music was repetitive and at times there was no music at all. They need someone to do a good playlist for them. We met a really nice and friendly bartender named Gabriel. He is attentive and makes excellent cocktails.
