Had a first time wonderful meal here this past Friday.
It was interesting walking in, as they had a wait for not only tables but the bar too. They said they get so busy that they have to during busy times, which I’ve never seen before. Not a big deal though; as a single diner I was seated within 5 minutes still.
I ordered the steak tartare tostado, and due to the sauce underneath used a fork to eat it. I got the impression that eating it with a fork wasn’t usual, but it saved me from messy hands! The spice level was more than enough for my taste buds, to the point that when the manager stopped over to ask how I liked it and I mentioned the level of spice being a little much for me, she poured me a horchata (their house blend in fact!), which was greatly appreciated.
The next item I had were the birria de chivo; essentially make your own birria tacos. These were also delicious, but extremely filling and very messy. I’d probably only order them again if I was sharing with someone!
The flan was delicious as well, and was a huge portion size.
Overall a really fun first visit, and now my husband is insisting on going with me next time

Delicious and authentic Mexican food in a small and cozy restaurant under the Duolingo headquarters. All the food including the tortillas and chips are made at the restaurant. The restaurant does not have a big duolingo theme, but more of a modern cozy vibe. The tuna tostadas were delicious, the tacos, flautas and guac were also amazing. The churro was good but a little undercooked in the middle. Overall a really great experience serving authentic mexican food that might take your taste buds outside their comfort zone.

We loved our experience at Duo’s. Hands down the best Birria I’ve ever had. We especially loved the tortillas that they make from scratch with corn sourced from Mexico. You can never underestimate the power of a good tortilla.
My husband also had the tostado de atún which was delicious. We shared the tacos de al pastor which were delicious and perfectly spiced/seasoned. Duo’s wide selection of mezcal was impressive and we loved that they only carry brands that are fully Mexican owned, which supports not only family businesses but also the tradition and cultural importance of agave.
There really was not a single thing we experienced that we had anything negative to say. Ultimately, we definitely recommend Duos.

BLOWN AWAY! Everything about this restaurant was perfect. The guacamole and chicharrones with jalapeño was incredible. Me and my party of 5 were truly caught off guard with this restaurant. We were all boy excepting such greatness. GOAT tacos were mouth watering. Chicken flautas are also a must try. But the best part of the meal was the churros which was the best churro I have ever had in my life. Thank you for such a perfect meal.

Freshly made and flavourful guac. They refilled our chips after we finished with our first round. The burrito was absolutely delicious too and I’ve never tasted such a yummy green sauce that came with it. Went on labor day and overall a pleasant experience. It was overpriced in my opinion but worth a try

The staff was welcoming, the cocktails were elevated, and the overall vibe was inviting—definitely built for groups, date nights, or anyone chasing a polished experience.
I came specifically to try the suadero tacos—after eating my way through LA’s street taco scene, that cut has become a personal favorite. Unfortunately, they had just pulled it from the menu. I pivoted to the Al Pastor, and it was solid. Nice flavor, good execution.
But here’s my honest take: the tacos are street-sized and priced like fine dining. If you’ve been in the taco game for real— and enjoy Spanish/Latin culture and food— not just riding the “Taco Tuesday” wave—you’ll know what I mean when I say— you’re going to Duo’s for the experience, not the value. The food is authentic, yes. But the pricing— Not so much. It’s A la carte. Which pulls away the true authenticity of Mexican / street tacos.
Would I return— Maybe, if I’m in the area. It’s worth visiting once just to say you did.

Duos is located in East Liberty. I the guacamole was freshly made. The flautas were good too. The goat birria was delicious very flavorful, it was served with five of the smallest tortillas I’ve ever seen, and toppings, and you build your tacos. The menu is kind of small not many choices, everything I ordered was tasty. The prices are high, the portions are small, but overall good experience

octopus was very good- great flavor and crunchy potatoes too. Didn’t like the bean sauced up chicken as much tho. Had good flavor just didn’t like sauce as much.

The food here was amazing, the guac y totopos were SO good (we got them güero style) – so many wonderful flavors in one dish! I also got the mushroom tacos (with the crunchy cheese), and those were delicious with fun textures throughout. I was well surprised with how good everything was! They also make their own masa in house so the tortilla chips were nice and crunchy and substantial. Would recommend this place to anyone, it’s also cool seeing the Duolingo offices right next door.
