We had an absolutely amazing dining experience at Dunn’s River Island Cafe! From the first bite to the last, every dish was bursting with rich, authentic Jamaican flavors that felt like home.
The curry goat with white rice was tender, well-seasoned, and perfectly spiced—every bite melted in the mouth. The oxtail with rice and peas was slow-cooked to perfection, with that signature savory gravy that you just want to pour over everything. The spicy jumbo shrimp was bold and full of flavor, with the heat perfectly balanced by the sweetness of the vegetables, and paired beautifully with the mashed fried plantains.
The portions were generous, the service by Sheron and the top chef Mr Green was warm and welcoming, and the presentation was spot-on. It’s rare to find a place that captures the true essence of Jamaican cooking while keeping the atmosphere so inviting.
If you’re craving authentic island comfort food that will leave you smiling and satisfied, Dunn’s River Island Cafe is the place to be. We’ll definitely be back!

Reasonable prices for the portion, and the dishes I got tasted great. Just here for the take-out, but from the setup, it looks like a party place at night.

Been coming here for years whenever I’m in Tampa. This paat time around rubbed me the wrong way. I ordered food to go because I don’t live in Tampa. When I got my food, I checked it and was having a few bites before hitting the road. I was told they don’t allow to-go boxes to be eaten at the bar but they would allow me to because I tipped. Never in my 6 to 7 years of coming there was I ever told that previously. Needless to say, I packed up and left. It is what it is at the end of the day but as a paying customer, I would expect a little more hospitality without referencing the fact that I tipped because I don’t have to. I choose to tip because I respect people in the service industry! The food is really good despite the miscommunication.

Let me just say this was my husband food I had grits and shrimp and forgot to get a picture but it was so good we drove from Palm Bay Florida to check this place out and we enjoyed every minute of it every thing was amazing from our waitress down to the live band we will definitely be returning

Everything was good from the time I walked in till I left my waitress was so on point took very good care of us. Food so delicious. Goat and oxtails favorite. Love love love this place.

some of the worst service. placed on order online. when i came to pick it up nobody greated me and then was rudely approached. finally gave them my name for the order, waited 10 minutes still nothing. then was asked who i was picking up for 3 more times and said they were just now starting it. since it was taking a while i sat at the table right near the door cause the place was basically empty. i was rudely told to get up and move, and my order is still not ready. multiple other customers came in, said their name and was handed food. the “usuals” seem to get priority, definitely not returning here again

I took my friend for the first time for her 70th birthday and once again Dunn’s River didn’t disappoint. Great food, I had ackee and saltfish NO WATERED DOWN DRINKS, great music and atmosphere, and Sam our table host was wonderful!

In town on vacation found this place looking for Jamaican food! IT WAS AMAZING! We had a party of 15. Place was empty we didn’t know what to expect, but we weren’t disappointed! The curry shrimp, jerk chicken, oxtails, and chicken quesadillas were all BUSSALICIOUS !!!!!! My Only complaints were portion sizes. Other than that, this place was delicious!
