Loved it! Don’t let the outside appearance scare you. So worth the stop. Totally your greasy spoon dive bar with great food. I came in wanting a delicious juicy thick hamburger with traditional toppings and a soft honey bun and they did not disappoint. Came with perfectly crisp tots. Husband got waffle fries with his. Topped it all off with a tall Hudy. Discovered by accident. So glad we did!

I was looking for a quick latte and breakfast sandwich to go, and was surprised when the cafe looked more like a bar, but is actually both! They don’t have an espresso machine, so I got some diner style coffee that was also pretty good, and a fantastic French toast sandwich that was better than I had any right to expect it to be! I’m definitely gonna be coming back, except probably earlier in the morning so I can sit and enjoy it.

This place is AWESOME!! The food is PHENOMENAL, the atmosphere is great, amd the prices are reasonable! I cant recommend this place enough! Its a fun mix of a breakfast restaurant and a bar that closes at 3. My friend and I dubbed it a “breakfast bar” and I think that is a perfect description. Order the French toast and you won’t be disappointed!

Update: The omelettes are also good and you can build your own. I added a half order of French toast to complete my breakfast.

I came specifically for the French Toast Sammie on their brunch menu. I up-sized it to the double decker version because it’s a great value.

The food was really good and filling, but took a little while since there were a lot of orders before mine and only one cook. The server and bartender were very friendly tho and kept my coffee and water topped off.

It’s a morning-through-lunch bar and grill, so there’s a mix of people dining and/or drinking, but all nice folks.

I’ve been here before for burgers and beers on their patio and those were good times as well. Btw it’s only a couple blocks from Findlay Market.

Where to start…

I’ll be honest, from the outside, Dunlap Cafe does not look like the most appealing place to have a 5 star breakfast.

And then you walk in.

They’ve clearly put a lot of work into making the inside very easy on the eyes, clean, and inviting. A very down to earth, hometown vibe. Complete with memorabilia on the wall and a mascot to take photos with!

Let’s get down to the food – Incredible! Me and my wife both had the French toast Sammie, which beat out The Governor and Goose and Elder for best breakfast sandwich that week. Let that sink in.

Sherry (sp?) and Julie have been doing a fantastic job of keeping this place running! Sherry chatted with us when we were ordering our food, walked us through the menu and what goes into cooking up different dishes. She recommended us get Julie’s potatoes with their French Toast Sammie, which are prepared each morning fresh. We were not disappointed!

The French Toast adds such a great flavor to the egg, bacon and sausage; soaking up the flavor but at the same time not becoming soggy. It holds the flavor in, reinvigorating your taste buds with each and every bite!

Seriously, this place is truly a hidden gem in Cincinnati/OTR. Please make this your first stop for breakfast/lunch!

Real Cincy goetta made at Eckerlin, local butcher shop. Sliced and fried to perfection.
Little bar with lots of local goodness. Ask for Carson.

Went in early morning just after opening time. Had only 2 other diners.

I had a French toast Sammie and a chocolate milk. Amazing food. Good service.
