Great experience tonight! The food was excellent and very authentic, staying true to traditional Romanian style. The service was even better—our waitress was attentive and friendly, making the meal very enjoyable. Prices are also very reasonable for the quality you get.
As a lovely bonus, since it was March 8th, they gave my wife a rose when we left. Such a thoughtful, classy gesture! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a good meal with great service in OC.

Being Romanian myself and having a mother who is objectively one of the best Romanian chefs I’ve met, I know what good Romanian food is supposed to taste like. I can confidently say this Romanian restaurant is probably the best one I’ve eaten at in the US. You will find authentic, delicious Romanian staples, a friendly staff and even a decor which reminds you of traditional Romanian restaurant. Highly recommended!

It was our first time at a Romanian restaurant and this spot was actually on my list for some time before we finally found the time to visit. We were in the area and although we weren’t very hungry, we decided to poke our heads inside anyways. We mainly just ordered a couple of items to sample, but honestly, the mashed potato was amazingly good. We were sitting there wondering how they made it so good. Neither my wife nor I are Romanian, but she said it reminded her of her grandmother’s cooking. When ordering, we absolutely murdered the pronunciation of everything, but our server was flattering and commended us for trying. She was rad.

Everything we had here was very good. I’m not Romanian but Polish, but went with a Romanian friend. There seems to be a lot of dishes that cross over and look/taste very similar! Our waiter and the owner were also very friendly. Will definitely be going back!

My 3rd time at this Romanian restaurant, absolutely love it. We live in West LA but the sarmale, mici and papanaşi are totally worth the drive. As someone who has lived 6 years in Romania I can say the food is authentic and really yummy. Highly recommend!

The best service, the best food hands down. Fresh ingredients, high quality preparations, served perfectly. This is an authentic Eastern European experience. The service is beyond what a person can expect, we made a last minute reservation on a Sunday night right before they closed. Literally treated my party like family and offered anything and everything the restaurant had with no rush whatsoever. I have been coming here for twenty years and hope to come for another twenty. Do not skip the authentic alcohols. Plum brandy, wine, beer all from Romania. I can vouch, I am Romanian and this tastes exactly right, there is no compromise. No need to worry about navigating the menu, let the staff help out, the suggestions are honest and will be satisfying for sure.

What a great experience. I love Eastern European food ( I’m Hungarian). Saw this place driving by and had to give it a try. The host/owner was very helpful in going through the menus. I had the lamb stew and my wife had the three sausage dinner (Skinless Sausages/Mititei). Our dinner was topped with a Papanasi desert. Great. Th interior is warm and welcoming. I love the bare cloth tablecloths (with no glass cover.) Will be back to try the rest of the menu.

If you’re craving authentic Romanian cuisine, look no further than Dunarea in Anaheim! From the moment you walk in, the warm and inviting atmosphere makes you feel right at home. The staff is incredibly attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve.
The menu is a treasure trove of Romanian classics, and everything we tried was absolutely delicious. The sarmale (stuffed cabbage rolls) were perfectly seasoned and melted in your mouth, while the mici (grilled sausages) were juicy and full of flavor. Don’t miss out on the mamaliga (polenta) or the ciorba de burta (tripe soup) – both were outstanding.
To top it off, their desserts are a must-try. The papanași (Romanian donuts) were the perfect ending to an already fantastic meal.
Whether you’re Romanian and feeling nostalgic or just curious to explore this incredible cuisine, Dunarea is a hidden gem you won’t regret visiting. I’ll definitely be coming back!

This is the only Romanian restaurant in SoCal. Menu is small but everything was fresh. They don’t have vegan/vegetarian options in their grill hot main entrees. The owner prepared a special plate with some vegetarian appetizers. The eggplant and beans dips were delicious. The bread served is not tasty at all. To eat there was quite expensive especially for the special plate. Instead of making a normal prize for it we paid for each item. We only discovered at the end. The restaurant is decorated with some Romanian clothes and art.

ROMANIA (via Eat the World Los Angeles) – If it is your first time eating here and you bring a group, you may think about asking the proprietor to guide you in putting together communal plates for appetizers and entrees. The appetizer plate was such a hit that the table asked for more of the same for the next round, letting the host guide the way. Another amazing platter arrived, essential entrees surrounded by piles of mămăligă, the staple of any Romanian diet.
